They can make TVs razor thin and they can make cars the size of a shopping cart, but you still have to be John fucking Cena to put an air conditioner in your window because they are still so large and heavy.

Air conditioners are still the same size as they were 30 years ago. Why have they not gotten smaller and lighter over time like other technology? I don't understand!

They're not digital and can't benefit much from miniaturization. They require compressors, radiators, etc and benefit from and are more efficient when scaled larger.

They could build smaller ones but they would suck and use more power per BTU.

I'm sure the circuitry has gotten much smaller, but there's too much mechanical shit going on for them to get as thin as TVs.

Correct. Dual hose actually have a hose for intake and one for exhaust.
Those use air from the outside to cool the heat exchanger and exhaust that. Instead of like window and single hose units, pulling in a portion of the air from the room, air that has already been cooled mind you, and exhausting that with the hot air.
