It's way too easy to just sit slackjawed scrolling through /r/videos watching stuff and then realise it's 2am and you didn't do the things you were supposed to do with your free time. Grey is typically a good sock base colour with brown shoe outfits though. With shorts, I'd have to wonder why you want socks showing at all. I'd go for no-show socks if it was me.
