Sometimes one or the other

Went to bed super early last night and sure enough I was awake shortly after..

I was about to get up but ended up staring into the darkness long enough to fall back asleep.. any other night I would've played a game or watch Twitch or something

Most of the time I just lay in bed for 2-3 hours until I fall asleep. But I'm constructive in that time contemplating stuff and thinking of cool scenarios for my D&D game that I DM for.

Both. Sometimes I just lay in bed and fall asleep eventually others I attempt to sleep for a hour or so, fail that and then get up and do things until I feel sleepy.

I have mad fucked up jetlag right now, went to bed at 7PM after being up for like 24+ hours travelling but I woke up at midnight and can't get back to sleep. Don't really know what to do since this is the first time I travelled, it's like 2AM now so guess I'll try again for a while.

^Stuff like that and earplugs. Even without, or when it's completely quiet, the earplugs will still enable me to wind back down...

But I can prolong my wakefulness for hours though, if I so choose to, and this morning that is precisely what I decided to do. So both. But am I doing anything I would consider constructive during this time? Not in the conventional sense. But I don't feel obligated to sleep with the rest of the world at the moment, whereas I usually do. The atmosphere of hurricane Harvey is actually pretty cool and has me less stressed out than I normally would be, as the hustle and bustle of the modern world has effectively stopped. So I don't feel bad about staying up tonight, as if I just sleep tomorrow off, there's nothing I'm going to be missing out on.

I go to bed when I'm tired.

Also, I work third shift, so I'm at work at 2:30 am.

I'm usually very good at telling when I will and won't be able to sleep and acting accordingly.

I have a no electronics policy on myself 1 hour before I go to sleep. I usually take that time to read. I haven't had any problems going to sleep switching to that.

I put on a lecture or a podcast and it usually lulls me to sleep while feeding my head pertinent info.
