How does it feel to know you supported Orson Scott Card and are helping to take away rights from homosexuals, you piece of shit?

He could have pirated it or watched it at a friend's house. But Card is a trashcan of a person. So I bought the book used to make sure he didn't get any of the money.

Yeah, it was better than I thought it would be as well. The beginning was pretty rushed, but they kept a lot in near enough to like it was in the book.

The next few books blew anyway, not till you start going into ender's shadow books etc does it get good again. So yeah, a sequel would have seriously blown.

And watching the movie supports the producers of the movie etc as well, it's not like OSC needs more money, or giving him more is going to change anything, he's very rich.

Also the book is far better (first one, and then later ones). It's very much like Dune in that the first book is great, then you have a bunch of meh ones, then it gets good again.

Speaker for the Dead wasn't bad. It just wasn't very good either. Kind of boring for most of it. I honestly stopped there even though I had already bought the next two. But I have heard the shadow series is great.

That may be, but it was a good book with an incredibly weak climax and an asshole author that just sort of ruined any interest I might have had from a niggling nostalgia I might have had for it.

I started watching it but Harrison Ford's character was so creepy the way he kept describing the kid as "perfect"

Like he was practically licking his lips

I liked this movie. I bought it used to add to my collection about a year ago.

Tattoo face Ben Kingsley was kind of lame though.

Meh, I'm not literary critic, but I remember it being thought-provoking and well written enough to merit it's inclusion in our curriculum. Good is a bit of an arbitrary term to begin with, but I don't think we can write it off as a total wreck considering the significance of it's popularity and it's inclusion in the collective zeitgeist of science fiction. The writer is undeniably a horrible person, though.

I specifically meant the movie. I've never read the book but it sounds like a very teenage appropriate book in terms of content and complexity.
