Let's be honest here. You probably have to find a fair balance of speed and quality but this old lady is a fucking literal slug doing work. She's a waste of money. Her job is to QC some property work by looking at pictures. Literally the easiest job in the world but she gets two orders done in a day. One before lunch and another after lunch.

Working for LA Sanitation, it truly is speed over quality. Because if you go for quality, they'll bitch at you for not doing as many as you should.

Working for LA Sanitation, it truly is speed over quality. Because if you go for quality, they'll bitch at you for not doing as many as you should.

So, they would rather you have to do it over and over again, instead of doing it right the first time? I understand there's a certain minimum speed needed, but doing a half-assed job would produce just as many complaints and you would have to do it twice.

When I was working at a grocery store, they had a goal of 15.5 items scanned per minute from the cashiers. I personally was usually above that mark. The store average never was.

The most important thing is doing the job right. Speed should come with experience. Idk how long this lady has been working with you, but if she's not making satisfactory progress, why is she still there? Also, how does her production affect you?

I fucking hated the old general manager and one of the other projectionists I used to work with at the theatre. It used to take me maybe an hour, hour and a half to build up a 35mm print, done while also running/checking the 15 screens I was responsible for. Checked for factory splices that had to be removed, check for print damage if we may have needed to order a new reel, and double checked all my splices.

Comes the new GM and new booth employee, talking down because he could build up a print in under 30 minutes. Didn't check for any damage, just put the reels on the table and turned it on full speed and walked away. If you aren't around when it hits the end, the chance was very high the film tail would whip around damaging/destroying the end. GM preferred him to build it fast, since I could just fix the problems later.

Guess which is easier? Doublechecking your splices when you make them and they are still on a build up table? Or trying to find where the bad splice is in 2 miles of wrapped up film?
