I have not been watching the New show at all, but i have seen some clips and it just seems that art work is just bad. Is that just me or do other feels that the art is a down grade from what they produced 20 years ago.

Everything is shiny. But also I don't think Toriyama's style works in HD.

If we're talking about the animation itself, I don't think it's much different from the old days, especially since DB has been re-released so many times at this point that I'm sure a lot of wonky looking stuff was ironed out whereas Super is still being churned out.

it's defo a downgrade. they also take a lot of shortcuts/reuse lots of animations.

It went from hand drawn in the old days to computer rendered, that's why everything looks so shiny and clean. The fighting is usually still top notch though and that's all that really matters.

This is absolutely not true. The art in Super is quite ugly. Z was pretty detailed in comparison.

Z looked fine. super for the most part looks better than DB. but for the most part super looks fine. there's some episodes they really half assed. episode 4? or whatever the ssj3 goku vs beerus fight with the shit animation.

super can look really good at times. other times it's just decent-good enough. problem is when they reuse a lot of the same scenes and do stuff to cut corners. super should have been given a bigger budget but that was a problem in Z as well. i know toriyama got on toei back then too.

how far you watched it, tc? the first 50 episodes are legitimately bad, but it gets better.

i posted golden freizas second time transforming and roshis max power kamehameha scene from the latest ep (both bad-ass, okay looking scene imo) and all people wanted to do was bitch about the animation. there's no pleasing some people.

I just saw when Freeza Blow up the Earth. Now that effect was mondo cool. I will give the devil his due. However I still think over all things are just odd. I think it is because sometimes the character just don't look like themselves .And the Shiny stuff others pointed out.
