Too bad I don't have the El Rey network. Made it to Ultima Lucha I. The only match I didn't like so far on this show was Blue Demon Jr vs Texano. Prince Puma vs Mil Muertes was awesome.

It's fantastic. I actually got really interested in the universe of the show as much as the wrestling itself. I wish I could watch Season 3 but I don't have El Rey either. Season 2 is great too. Texano stays as a weak point IMO unfortunately.

i honestly don't know for sure.

i've only ever made it 5 or 6 episodes, so maybe the early eps just didn't grab me quickly enough.

I definitely get annoyed with the commentary. Striker is so try-hard it's painful. dunno if that gets better once the "fuck you WWE" feeling settles. Vampiro is ok, but he can't seem to decide if he's a face or heel.

the promos / taped segments are not well acted, but that probably isn't enough to get me off the product completely.

the in-ring stuff is great, though it hurts that I only know 2 of the regulars.

Stryker is definitely my biggest issue, but (at least so far) there's been nothing to really hook me besides Morrison.

Vampiro (if that's the excessive tattoo guy) gets a few good scenes involving the bald coach guy. I'm not good with names.

But Prince Puma is probably one of my more favorite presence, probably because he's the new blood getting push

They do chill out on the WWE shots, but Stryker does continue to be hit or miss, but I typically tune out the commentary so it doesnt bother me as much. If you're not pulled in by the matches at this point, then yeah it might not ever click for you. I find it a great alternative to WWE, but hey it might not be everyone's bag.

Striker can be obnoxious at time, but at least he has passion and seems to genuinely care about the matches he's calling, unlike certain WWE announcers.

While other promotions like Ring Of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling embrace trying to be more realistic, Lucha Underground goes the opposite direction and throws realism out the window. It's more like a wrestling promotion meets a TV drama meets a Mortal Kombat game, and I think they make it work. Plus, the production values are fantastic, both in the ring and in the backstage segments. It's a Robert Rodriguez production, after all.

I was the same way at first, but I got used to the newer names (Ml Muertes is my current favorite) and enjoyed some of the former WWE talent that joins in the later seasons. PJ Black (formerly Justin Gabriel in WWE), Big Ryck (formerly Ezekiel Jackson in WWE), Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio in WWE), Chavo Guerrero, and even Rey Mysterio have all shown up and had pretty great matches with the Lucha Underground regulars.

Yes, you guys should definitely watch it. Give it at least until the first Ultima Lucha show at the end of season 1, or preferably the Aztec Warfare match in the middle of season 2. If you're not hooked by then, Lucha Underground isn't the right one for you.
