I posed the same question and they didn't say shit. Obama pardoned people like nobody's business, although I will say that among the ones I'm aware of, most were justified (drugs related sentences). Still, he pardoned manning.

The Sheriff of Maricopa County Arizona is an office of the executive branch of government. Its occupant has no right or authority to write laws (as the legislative branch does) or interpret laws (as the judicial branch does) The sheriff was given an order by the court, and he defied it.

It does not matter if the order was right, fair, or smart. It's his duty to carry it out. He refused and was punished for it. The politics don't matter. He was convicted of refusing to comply with a court order. If he wanted to protest, or change the law. He should have gone about it differently.

Also, Trump is perfectly within his rights to grant a pardon to anyone, at any time, for any reason, or no reason at all. Trump, AND HIS PARTY are also free to pay the political price for it.
