MUSKOGEE, Okla. — An Oklahoma father allegedly admitted to grabbing a one-month old infant by the throat, shaking him, and throwing him into a ceiling fan because he wouldn’t stop crying, according to an affidavit obtained by the Tulsa World.

Robert Jackson Jones Jr., 24, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, is charged with six counts of child abuse after he allegedly grabbed his one-month-old baby by the throat, shook him, smothered him to muffle his cries, slammed the baby against a changing table, threw him into a ceiling fan and dropped him in the bathroom, according to the affidavit.

The alleged incidents happened between Aug. 16 and Aug. 19.

Muskogee Police Department investigator James Poffel wrote in the affidavit:

“These injuries are considered to be non-accidental injures. And due to (the infant’s) declining medical condition, he was transported to Saint Francis Tulsa.”

According to KOKI, Jones told officials the baby’s head hit the toilet during the fall. After the baby started having seizures, Jones and the baby’s mother took him took the hospital on Aug. 20.

The infant was suffering from two skull fractures and bleeding around his brain. The baby also suffered a bruise on his left eye and fingerprint bruises on either side of his neck, according to KOTV.

The baby remains in critical condition.

When authorities questioned Jones about the injuries, he reportedly confessed to investigators that he hurt the baby because he wouldn’t stop crying.

According to the Tulsa World, Jones will make his first court appearance on Sept. 5.

My mom raised my little cousin into a ceiling fan.

She lifted her up and her face hit the fan.

I ran back to get someone to call 911. Blood everywhere and my mom comes back right behind me saying "she's ok. She's ok. The face is just very vascular."

Didn't end up calling 911 and my cousin was fine but I bring this up any time my cousin tells me my mom is nicer than me.

I thought the father was playing (like tossing the baby up in the air and catching the baby) and accidentally tossed the baby into a ceiling fan... not intentionally throwing the baby into the ceiling fan (let alone choking and shaking him).

Anyone who has a newborn knows that it cries 24/7 and lots of people I work with have said they they just want to shake the baby and slap it in the face since it won't actually shut up. But you would never actually do it, though.

When you are stressed out like that and are at your wits end, you gotta give the baby to somebody else for a bit or stuff like this happens. You just can't be doing shit like this. The baby could have died

When you're at your wits end with a newborn or immobile child, just put them in the crib and walk away to cool down.

I could never imagine shaking my son when he was a baby. Now that he's a toddler I throw him all over the place and he thinks it's hilarious. Swing him back and forth like a pendulum by the ankles, throw him up at the ceiling (9 foot ceilings are great).. all sorts of fun!

Are you sure that's not just for completely giving up your child? What's the exact age limit? In some places, it's literal days iirc.

Safe Haven law. Baby can only be up to a few months old. Hand the baby over, no questions asked.

I'd recommend this in a private location and call it a day. Unless it's hungry or in discomfort somehow there's nothing wrong with taking a needed break. Nobody should frown upon anyone for that. Yet they do >_>
