The main problem is the content. It's just not interesting. People wandering around an Irish town for the day, and having random conversations. Books set over short periods of time are often boring, IMO, but the things that happen aren't even interesting. I read about 350 pages (although I read some stuff from later on), and most of it was bad. I don't know how this is considered a classic. Also, modernism is one of my least favourite styles of writing.

Dubliners was also bad, actually, it was dreadful.
