Considering how it works no I would not and in reality of one was ever made it would only be used to transport cargo.

I might but I would let a few people go first and then maybe give it a try.

No, because apparently it kills you and just makes a clone

That's what I believe too

that's not exactly how it works. It disassembles and reassembles you at the atomic level. So while the body that comes out at the other side may still be the same the mind definite won't since our consciousness depends on our synapses constantly firing off in a NEVER ENDING PROCESS. Without a way to preserve that process (nothing short of completely freezing time itself can achieve this) you will "die" every time and the consciousness that emerges will only think they are the original.

It's called science fiction for a reason, applying "reality" to it is missing the point.

Actually it's not. Especially with star trek. Sci fi is based more on reality possibility than fantasy. And Star trek is a more hard sci fi than most. It's based on things that may very well exist that is why so many inventions on star trek have now been created in real life since the 60's

And what of the immortal soul in such transactions? Can this

I think a transporter should use a massive amount of energy to rip two holes in space to get you where you need to be. Honestly it seems like it would use less energy than molecular de- and re-construction.

The "transporter" in Star Trek is more impressive than FTL travel imo

I always figured we would use something like a star gate instead.

No. Cause of this rhyme:

I teleported home last night with Ron and Sid and Meg
Ron stole Meggy's heart away and I got Sidney's leg.

I liked the episode where Riker turns out to have two Rikers and the Rikers were busy Rikering but only one Riker was higher in command and the other Riker was more badass apparently

Imagine being the Riker that got all the women and seeing a badass you not ever get laid

there's an episode where Kirk gets split into Good Kirk and Evil Kirk but really Evil Kirk was just afraid of his consciousness not existing because recombining with Good Kirk would "kill" "him"

So the transporter in Star Trek is basically a replicator?

The transporter converts matter into energy and then back to matter, which would be such a ridiculously energy inefficient process if the conversion didn't kill you.

The Star Trek transporter should be able to create living beings from nothing, but the show never explores this.

Didn't they kinda scratch the surface in Voyager with a plant? And kinda Tuvix

The transporter in that episode combined multiple lifeforms into one. Star Trek has never created organic life using the transporters or replicators that I've seen.

I googled because I was curious about it. Got this: "in the case of living organisms, non-canon works such as the Star Trek: the Next Generation Technical Manual state that, though the replicators use a form of transporter technology, it's at such a low resolution that creating living tissue is a physical impossibility."
