That's pretty much what most of the citizens of Coruscant said between RotS and ANH

Except in this scenario, it'd be after the Empire already blew up Alderaan.

Conveniently enough, the Star Wars saga overlooks the citizens of the empire and how they are affected by the war or by the Emperor's policies, so you think only the bad guys are destroyed.

You mean the citizens that are totally okay with slavery, racism and literal genocide in favor of their own personal security?

No, what a weird and stupid question.

Haven't kept up with the New EU much.

But I'd love to see something set after the Galactic Concordance. The New Republic liberated the Core, Coruscant, and the Inner Rim systems.

Those places, especially Coruscant would've been fully populated with citizens that for 20 years were essentially brainwashed by the Empire.

Was there a de-Nazification style program (like in Germany post WWII)? were prominent Imperials tried publicly for war crimes? Was there some sort of forced integration of aliens back into society?

British Loyalists during the year 1776: "Yeah Britain isn't exactly being great to the colonies at the moment, and I don't exactly agree with what the Red Coats are doing, but look at what those DAMN colonists are doing. They're being violent, disrespecting our leaders and tearing apart the fabric of what this great country stands for."

Actually, which is sort of funny these days given the current administration and their antics, the Empire changed its story on Alderaan several times.

They are probably rather scared of the huge ass military the empire has.

My understanding was that the military was used only really in frontier or colony worlds.

Never really in the core worlds, because the Empire kept the people there nice and prosperous
