Do you believe well-adjusted people usually need to reassure to others that they're happy?

The obvious answer is "no." The brighter the light, the darker the shadow. Everyone I have known that feels the need to base their value on what others think is an insecure mess. It can be mostly "woo, life is great!" in public, but then you see them as they are the more you interact with them. It's usually a poorly veiled façade that only morons or the extremely naïve are tricked by, but "fake it 'til you make it" is literally all that holds some people together.

Yeah Im pretty happy since this was my career goal I set forth for myself and I worked hard for it. Maybe eventually I will tire of it but as of right now it's pretty sweet. Maybe because I also had some pretty intensely bad things happen to me early in life that being where Im at has some perspective attached to it and I appreciate it.

I will say the intense stress of the CFA program probably took a few years off the ol' life but now that it's over I'm revelling in life right now. I did almost go crazy during studying tho. I was not happy then. These dumbass certifications have such a broad set of materials (CFA, CPA, etc) that anyone will only use 15% of it in their job lol. Oh well.

I do think Masters degrees and professional designations are the new Bachelors degrees. A bachelor degree now is basically required, it isnt anything very useful.

As for 'mad poon'. Its a very nuanced topic. If I could boil it down it would be to always put yourself and your goals ahead of women, that alone will put you in a very small group that doesnt put them on a pedastal, and they like that. One of those goals has to be fitness btw (Physical attraction is the starting point of every relationship, whether it is a one-night stand or a future wife). And once you do that, be sexual from the start with women that you want to sleep with. Dont hang around and hope it will fall into your lap, never does. If she doesnt reciprocate, dont continue communications. Respect her wish and dont continue to pester. Move on, the phrase 'plenty of fish in the sea' doesn't exist for no reason. No matter where you are the men/women split is always around 50/50. That's about as much as I can boil it down for y'all. And this did not come naturally. When I was a POS who didnt work hard, I was also someone who was terrible with women and couldnt figure out why.

Oh yeah and if you are older than say, 19, having a 'crush' is unacceptable. To zone in on and obsess over one woman that isn't even into you when you are an at an age where thousands of sexually available women around you is incredibly childish. If you like a girl, strike up a convo and ask her out (or if you are at a dance-bar just try dancing with her). She says yeah? Right on! She says no? Don't even be upset for more than a minute. Plenty of fish. Remember that. It is just a complete waste of your youth to fawn over one woman if she isn't your girlfriend.

And yes during this timeframe I had 2 girlfriends, one for 1 year and one for 2.5 years.

Ask her. Especially a shy person, they won't open up to you about their interest in you. You gotta pry that information from them.

I have no clue what your career is. Without knowing that I can give two pieces of advice:

1. Pursue a RELEVANT course to further your skills that bring value to a company.
2. Switch companies. No need to change careers, but the statistics show that the best way to get the biggest raise is to look externally from your current employer. The average % annual raise from staying at a company over 5 years is less than the % raise from employer jumping.

Just don't do point 2 too often. You don't want your resume to give the impression that you wouldn't be a loyal employee.

I read that big post and i like you now

Good to have someone understand the shit CFA/CPAs have to go through

Even though I don't really want to pursue corporate crap i think being licensed is good in general and looks better when helping out the general public so i might continue with the cpa exam

I think Bachelors in business still holds weight to get entry level gigs but moving up it's almost expected you shell out money to get yet another certification

Yes lol. Mostly pertaining to candidates and how they can describe themselves on their resume. Once you finally become a Charterholder it laxes out a bit. Main things you cant say pertain to actual advice/analysis you give out and any conflicts of interest you have, but you are also supposed to do things like not be racist, be convicted of crimes, etc etc. Mainly you are supposed to act ethically when representing the CFA society and the charter.

Seems like climbing the SDE ladder is a good way to do so. Its different at every company but from a cursory search, paygrade increases a huge amount from level to level.

Im not totally qualified to speak to that though. A buddy of mine works at Amazon and climbed from 80k to 125k over 6 years.
