Its a lot of work but its totally worth it. Typical career projection for my role is to stay for 3-4 years and then get hired by a private firm in a cushy high paying position. Im on year two and despite the long hours, I find 70% of my job very fun and interesting. Love talking to people.

Idk what an icky dicky is but yeah, eventually you realize that career progression has ties to physical appearance. No matter the industry. And Im not talking about genetic facial structure. Im talkint about people perceiving you as healthy, well adjusted, and well off. Dressing sharp, grooming properly and frequently, and keeping fit are key to getting promotions.

No one respects a supervisor who is obese or a twig. Be be healthy, get a proper haircut for your style, shave clean or trim your beard, and shower dailer and your grooming aspect is taken care of.

Wear clothes that fit, and that suit your job. It may be a suit or just a button up but you want to look sharp. For me it was a blazer every day but for others its different. Just a way to subconsciously show your boss thay you care.

Its great to love what you do eh? Hard work pays off. This is not an attitude I had from age 13-22, and it really showed. It took a great mentor for me to change and teach me harsh realities, so that is what I'm hoping to do for struggling PotDers ITT.

I'm not sure why turbo-nerds think fucking a lot of women is impressive. Maybe in the 1950s when promiscuity was frowned upon, that'd be something. Whenever somebody tries to make that claim as a badge of honor, I can only suspect that they somehow didn't get laid until their mid-20s and are overcompensating or, more likely, haven't gotten any at all.

Otherwise if you're actually making $200k/year, congratulations, you're doing well for yourself. I hope that you're investing almost all of that while living on a small portion of your income.

Your last point is true but I think mine was always horrendous. "Just enough". The amount of exams I took where I literalltnststed up the entire night memorizing material because I skipped 10/20 classes , was too high. It made my CFA way harder too cause I recognized most concepts but had to relearn them anways.

For those still in high school: Have fun, dont worry, do well enough to get into a decent university, and then bust your ass while you are there. This does not in any way, shape, or form state that you cannot party while in Uni either.

Yeah I came around the end of the GBA lifecycle when my newspaper said Nintendo was working on a new system with two screens. At the time this was the most exciting news of my life so I went online and ended up here. Now I pretty much buy 1-3 games a year and end up playing Rocket League anyways.

While that's often true of sales and front-facing roles, it's a ridiculous stereotype. I know plenty of CEOs in horrendous shape, some of whom are pulling in close to a million per year. One guy is so fat I'm a little surprised he's lived this long but, maybe due to the weight, he looks 10 years younger than he is. Then of course my stupidly rich distant uncle -- who pulls in million dollar+ bonuses most years -- really isn't much of a dresser and has horrendous hair. He's in a role where looks *should* matter, but he's somehow gotten by. Granted, he's old now but I've seen photos of him when he was young and he looked like a dork.

In general, career progression is based less on appearance and more on networking both inside and outside your company. Being attractive can help, but a lot of it is just soft skills.

The DS was the first Nintendo console to truly disappoint me. Granted, the later SKUs were a bit nicer but the 2-screen concept has rarely been used well and the whole thing felt strictly inferior to the GBA-SP despite the better processing power, additional buttons, etc.

Nevermind that at around age 19 I was tired of being an awkward fuck and actively researched how to be social in the best way. That may have been the hardest part of my success, changing from a hermit-type gamer/forum poster to a guy who can charm the pants off of an interviewer. It was like administering my own cognitive behavioral therapy.


And let me tell you, your friends, associates, and even family will try to bring you down every step of the way on your progress. Its simple psychology, I dont even blame them. Im still good friends with some of them. But wh they feel ""threatened"" by your improvement (aka you remind them that they arent improving as much as they should or at all), its natural for them to try to bring you down.

Its known as the crab-bucket phenomon and you wont truly believe it until you experience it.
