$50k is not little value, that's more than a years worth for work for most people. Also you could breed a boat load of chihuahuas for that about of time.

PETA: We'll pay you to get away with killing your pets against your will!

PETA should not be allowed to exist at this point. They are getting way out of control with this shit. Why the fuck do they have to kill all the shit they supposedly "save"?

Yeah, they're well-known for using their shelters to kill animals. There's this fucked up "liberating them from the shackles of human greed" complex going on as far as I'm concerned.

There are dozens of environmental activism groups that do good work and aren't buttfuck crazy. Don't support PETA, and you probably shouldn't support Greenpeace either - both groups love to pull shitty publicity stunts and damage what they claim to be protecting.

Fuck that. Money can't replace things like that.

That's as fair as giving someone $100,000 for killing their son and saying it seems fair.

This.

"Fair" would be shutting PETA down for good and every last cent they had goes towards families they've wronged and humane societies.

Considering PETA was open to settling out of court because they wouldn't want their practices to be exposed, why settle for $50k?

Why not? People have won million dollar cases for NIED or IED where there was no loss of life period.

Explain to me how this case is gonna cause less emotional distress please.

A dog is considered property. You can't prove it's worth millions when you can replace the property for much less than that, and most states don't allow for "pain and suffering" for animal losses. So considering they got $50K to replace their dog they did better than pursuing it through court assuming the state doesn't allow for pain and suffering damages.

If I'm wrong I apologize but it appears you agree animals shouldn't result in pain and suffering damages? Why?

It's about principle.

You can say that all you want but perception is reality and a lot of people out there don't perceive it that way.

You can stick with you opinion but don't pretend like you're justified in dictating other people's opinions.

It's not logic, it's fucking arrogance and ignorance.

I'm not arguing that. We're not talking about that either.

You said "you can't justify getting millions for a pet that generates no income". I'm asking why you can justify anyone getting millions unless it's specifically for the loss of a child in that case?

No case should be awarded millions for pain and suffering without loss of life, right? Any justification for pretty much any other situation especially "loss of income" is gonna apply to this one too for one reason or another.

Well not sure I said any of that but humans are not treated as property, and many cases and insurance companies have ruled that loss of a person is indeed worth millions of dollars.

Well I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but if it was a show dog then the owners would get more for loss of future income. Or if PETA went and deliberately planned to take and kill their dog then they would be able to get punitive damages.

Or at the very least issue a court order that places a moratorium on all euthanasia done by PETA until further notice and make them refer all animals to be "rescued" to a local shelter with a superior track record on all counts.
