It feels like the directors are just pandering to the most popular fan theories and everyone is wanking off to the hype. I liked when Game of Thrones was unexpected and all these clever side plots were happening and the grand scheme of things were massive. The new episodes are entertaining but I can't help but feel like it's just lame now. It started going downhill when they ran out of books to copy IMO --- "When it's cold, and when it's dark.... There aren't even 10 episodes left to wrap up everything that remains in the show. Someone needs to end up on the throne and the dead army needs to be vanquished with some amount of closure. In addition to that remaining side plots need to be finished (someone get Bronn a fucking castle already). I suspect it is exactly because of their insecurity with "not following the vision" that in the absence of that, they just have to please the fans.
