Which one

I honestly hate durability in any game. It was fun in the plateau and Eventide island and a pain in the ass everywhere else. Therefore, hurt.

I don't mind it. I thought it was well done in Zelda, I do wish there was some option to keep broken gear and be able to repair it. It's not like it would have made the game easier if you're hoarding broken gear and it takes up slots, it would force you to drop some of it eventually.

That's just me, but I thought it worked well in BotW.

It would've been better if all weapons across the board were more durable.

Help. There would be no reason to use most of the weapons in the game if it wasn't in. Every weapon that can be thrown away is disposable anyway.

I think weapon durability/breakage was good in Dead Rising, I mean one of the draws was to basically play around with random shit to kill zombies with.

Neither hurt nor helped, imo. It was just a necessary mechanic for what they were trying to accomplish with the game. It worked in that regard.

they should have ditched weapon durability, and scattered all the weapons throughout the world. There are definitely enough unique weapons to fill it.

The only time I don't like weapon durability is when it's in games where I'm supposed to keep using the same weapon anyway. It adds nothing to The Witcher 3 for instance. It's just a hassle having to repair the sword all the time.

From what I've seen, the durability of items is really poor to a point where a weapon or shield will break while in a single fight, prompting you to pick up whatever the enemy had and use that until that cycle repeats.

Increase the durability of items so they're not made of aerogel and prayer, and maybe add a system to repair items using other materials, and it'd be a nice system.

Bethesda finally just dropped it thankfully.

I always like when people would be like "but it's less realistic!" like stopping time to whack your weapon with a hammer was more believable.

I think the idea is appropriate for BotW's design, but I think they went a bit too far with how easy they are to break. I think they should be a bit tougher but have more pronounced weaknesses to things in the environment.

Repair would ruin it because then you'd just spend time repairing your best weapon all the time instead of using any of the other stuff.

Prompting you to pick up the enemies weapons and throwing them to break them is why the system is there. The game is meant to be incredibly dynamic. Not just "use my best weapon all the time until I win"

It's meant to feel like a scramble.

In the beginning, it helps.

By the end, it hurts. No fucking reason why the Master Sword should even have durability

I just wish I could actually fucking see the durability of my weapons/shields. The only indicators you get are when they're unused or 2-4 hits from breaking.

Most games just use durability as a lazy time/money sink, or as a way to artificially encourage variety of usage that wasn't accomplished by innovative design. It's not horrendous in BotW, but it doesn't improve the game either.

Off the top of my head, I can't really think of any games where durability improved the gameplay. Perhaps Far Cry 2, since it went well with the theme of a perpetually hostile environment, but most people hated the mechanic in that game, too.

It clearly helps the game, and anyone who claims otherwise is just too close-minded to accept an unorthodox system.

These videos explain the brilliance of the system better than I ever could:

It was absolutely shit and ruined battles for me.

The MS should have been unbreakable, giving those who don't like the durability some options. Not like it would be something out of left field. In fact the opposite was out of left field.

Even after the DLC, the MS was restored to its full power but still had durability that made zero sense and fucked the lore. It never broke before, so it was just a gimmick. Regardless, by that point, you should have been given the option to finally have an unbreakable weapon but Nintendo stubbornly refused.
