You know what's harder watching them get sick and die when they're still young

I'm on dialysis too, but I'm in line to get a transplant. Your mom can't be put on the list? That's rough man, all you can do is be there for her, best wishes

i dont know. shes been having kidney issues for the last year and i dont live with my parents anymore so i only hear small updates. shes 65 so i dunno her chances of getting a transplant.

i keep thinking shes going to die soon but this is the opposite of that. its extending her life. but its still saddening.

Dialysis prolongs life but not indefinitely. Theres a high mortality rate after 5 years. It's also very rough on the body, she's going to suffer, it's definitely something to be sad about. If she doesn't have other health issues then at 65 it's still possible to get on the list from what I understand

That sucks TC.

I'm in a (sort of) similar boat. I'm 33 but my parents are 75... they were old when they had me

My mom has macular degeneration and completely lost central vision in one eye. Not only that but she's super tired all the time and rarely gets out of bed. Meanwhile my dad has alzheimers and is getting worse by the day. He used to love to read books and he literally read all the time. Now he's completely unable to read anything because by the time he finishes one page he has no idea what he just read.
