I think it's bad design. If you don't want teamkilling then don't add friendly fire. That's the simplest path rather then having someone moderate reports and look through twitch streams and vods.

Yeah, this seems like a dumb idea. A number of people will kill their teammates and themselves so they can join a new lobby if their current one is going terribly.

Banning for legal game actions is fucking dumb.

you guys know there's a difference between accidentally killing someone with splash damage on an aoe attack and actively hunting your own party members, right? even fucking disgaea explored the idea by having a bad ending you can only get if you slaughter a ton of your teammates, which you'll pretty much never manage to do unless you're actively trying to

I get the TOS of it but it's the game design stand point of it I don't get. They could be spending the resources on something else and just turn off friendly fire. It's redundant.

game devs know that people will abuse any mechanic but that doesn't make the mechanic not worth having in the game

It's too extreme. Cod got it right by having a separate hardcore mode with friendly fire on and you get killed after your 4th team kill then you get kicked for the 5th one.

It's like if a game dev added a command that nuked a server that everyone could access but had a fit when people used it.

What makes more sense? To remove it or make it harder for people to access?

Or to hire someone to sit there and ban everyone that uses it?

I wonder what takes up more resources and effort.
