The operating system uses a special interface that only allows for very specific pilot selection.

Any medical issues you have that can be cured will be cured. Any that can't be cured will be constantly taken care of by the best possible medications and treatment through the user interface of the mechs cockpit.

The only other ones capable of piloting the system are a 13 year old girl and a 62 year old man, and neither match up to the system half as well as you, and are likely to die in combat should you decline.

If you do accept, you will be considered a high ranking us military officer. You will have to keep in decent shape, but your only real duty is piloting your machine. You will be given a starting salary of 200 thousand a year, that will gradually max out at 500 hundred thousand over the course of five to ten years, along with all other benefits the military offers.

How durable is the suit? I need a guarantee that I'll be completely unharmed before I even begin considering whether I want the job or not.

$100,000 seems pretty low for a job that only 3 people in America can handle.

What will I be fighting? Big giant monsters, other mechs, or just regular people?

Also how big is this mech?

Seeing as you're a prototype, you wouldn't see any combat. You'd be doing drills all day while they tried to perfect the system and make more.

Fairly durable especially against standard weapons of today, but if you fuck around you can die

I changed it to a higher amount. However if you refuse and both the other two die, you can be drafted into the position.

The first few years will be against modern modern weapons. Tanks, jets, people, etc. Eventually other mechs will begin to appear

Can it withstand anti-tank shells? Or artillery? Or even a battleship battery? Fighter jet missiles? A freaking ICBM?

It can withstand pretty much everything but the icbm to a degree (assuming you mean a nuke or very heavy payload)

However all above will chip away it's armor to a degree depending on the weapon. You should be good unless you stand there like a complete idiot or management to get completely bombarded by tanks, fighter jets, heavy artillery etc.
