TIL: waifu simulators like fire emblem and xenoblade are considered 'adult' games.

Xenoblade is not a "waifu simulator". There is no sort of romance mechanic in either of the games.

I don't think british accents suddenly make a game more adult

Death, visual blood, romance sub-plots that go farther than harmless flirting, plot that's more complicated than saving the princess...
Plus Xenoblade X deals with themes of transhumanism and the moral implications of it.

Adult doesn't always just mean guns, gore, sex, and vulgar language. And I feel that's what a lot of these "Nintendo makes kiddy games" complainers are looking for. Also if we don't want to count Xenoblade (for some reason) then let's talk about Fire Emblem, which dealt a lot with death and controversial subjects such as incest. Also Mother 3, because despite the cutesy art style that game's super dark.

Metroid, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Sin and Punishment, Eternal Darkness, Fatal Frame, Bayonetta 2.

Aren't those, other than Metroid and Fire Emblem, considered second-party titles? Don't know if they count as "true" Nintendo games.

Xenoblade is first party.

Nintendo owns the IPs for Sin & Punishment and Eternal Darkness. They also have some ownership over the Fatal Frame IP nowadays.

They also own the rights to Bayonetta 2, which is why it will never be released on a non-Nintendo platform as it is now.

I see. I figured they were in some sort exclusivity deal that will eventually lapse.

Never played Xenoblade, but FE was definitely Nintendo's most mature series before it became a "waifu simulator."

This is definitely true. See: Genealogy of the Holy War, Blazing Blade ("Fire Emblem"), and the Tellius games.

The most recent FE, Echoes, is also not even close to being a waifu sim. God, I hate Awakening for even starting this trend of calling FE a waifu sim in the first place

Yeah. Awakening and Fates are the only games in the series that has that waifu shit. Hope they drop it in future installments.

I mean at least in Awakening it makes sense plot wise, Fates on the other hand made like no sense.

Genealogy also had it, though not like how it was in Awakening and Fates.

Yeah, I can excuse Awakening since it was possibly going to be the final entry in the series so they threw in as much stuff as they could as the series' swan song. And at least time travel makes some sort of sense.

At least, much moreso than that Deeprealm nonsense in Fates.

The reason is because Nintendo views videogames as toys for children and hates anyone over the age of 10 buying and playing their games.

You'd think that you'd be happy people who grew up with your games who do all kinds of stuff to how much they love your games but nope, not Nintendo they just want to continue showing nothing but hate and malice towards the older side of their fanbase
