the definite article 'the' will be ignored for the purposes of this topic. i.e the rolling stones are eligible to win r, but not t.

if you want to nominate a specific musician rather than the band they play in (i.e chad kroeger instead of nickelback) i won't stop you, though i'd prefer you'd only do this on the merits of their singles career.

Steven Wilson for sure. I know he won't win as he isn't a mainstream artist at all but he just gets music. I don't think there is a single thing Wilson has touched in some way that isn't top notch. From Porcupine Tree to Bass Communion to No-Man to Storm Corrosion to Blackfield it's all fantastic. And as a producer he's even better. He's been doing 40th anniversary remixes of prog classic by bands such as Yes, King Crimson, Gental Giant, and Jethro Tull and each and every one of them sounds absolutely phenomenal. No matter who wins the poll, Steven Wilson will always be my number 1 artist starting with S.
