I just dont know how to fix it, im hoping you guys might know

So he exited a game and suddenly the screen turned greenish.

I noticed that on the color settings (right click desktop screen, then graphics settings, then colors) that where the color red is supposed to be, it was black. The green color was almost yellow and the blue was blue.

Anyways: When changing the blue and the green colors (theres a slider), the screen started to look different right away, but when i did the same with the red slider, nothing happened.

Does this sound like software or hardware to you guys? He has tried system restore to an earlier date, without luck.
We tried opening up the laptop to get to the plug connected to the screen, but we gave up for now, since that casing was really hard to remove. Might check out this later, though

We have tried connecting it to a TV with HDMI and there it works perfectly (have yet to check if that red slider does anything there, i will ask him to check that out asap)

Thank you in advance ^_^

The cable that connects from the screen to the motherboard is damaged.

It's easy to do because it's a small cable that has to run through one of the hinges of the laptop to get to the board. It's easy for it to become damaged over time from opening and closing the laptop.

You'll need to either sent it off to get a new screen or you can replace it. Beware though, replacing a screen in many laptops means taking apart nearly the entire laptop to get to it. It's not a simple fix but it can be done. I've done it a few times and hated it every single time.

Thanks a lot =)

I just copied your reply and gave it to him. Right now he's using his tv as his laptop screen, but now he knows what options he has.

If we decide to give opening it up a new chance, do we need to order a new cable or can it be fixed?

You'd have to order an entire new screen for the laptop from the manufacturer. Normally runs between $80-$120 depending on the model of laptop.

Not only is it over 2 years old, which would still have been within the time for getting a free fix because of our customer laws, but he bought it abroad

So no.

But ive given him all the info from this topic. He thanked me for helping, so i thank you for helping :D
