Just finished Final Fantasy VIII (PS1) -- 4/10 Took me probably about 70 hrs (my file is at 65:57 just prior to the final battle).

There's not much I can say good about this game, but it wasn't awful. I don't like the junctioning system. I'm not a fan of having no equipment to buy, just upgrading weapons. I ended up with about 1.5M Gil and spent maybe 50k throughout the whole game (and 99% of that was at the Ultima draw point in Shumi Village). The level scaling monsters removed almost all incentive to fight random battles. I'm really starting to despise the ATB since battles turn into watching bars fill up. Too many long stretches of doing nothing but running around towns, talking to people, to where I felt like I was reading a book or watching a movie instead of playing a game. I know I missed a ton of optional stuff, but I didn't start following a walkthrough until the boss rush that is disc 4. I didn't even encounter a chocobo.

Won't get any votes, but I picked Walden. Great book. Curious why you include it as a game, though. I can download movies on my PS4, doesn't turn those movies into games. But I'm unfamiliar with these DS Classic Books. Is there some quiz involved or something?

Wasn't a fan of FF8, either. For pretty much everything you listed. Also, couldn't get into Squall's character.

It's just something I have on DS, so I include in my backloggery to include all titles I own. It would give me a change of pace from games. There's no quiz or anything. It's simply a collection of classic books. I think it predates the e-readers like Kindle.

It's a fighting game, so basically you can just one it and done it, all the rangers have the same story, and there's only scenario mode and two player mode.

Obligatory vote for Cosmic Fantasy 2, but you can most likely knock out short games like Commando and MMPR in the meantime.

Might & Magic VIII, on the other hand ....
