Life expectancy of US is 78-79 years

Your point is moot

You can still be very healthy and fit. It's all in the mind. Sure it'll be harder to keep up, but that doesn't mean life has to be bad.

That's still a good 38-39 years after forty. My point still stands.

And those years will be mired with cancer, ED and a loss of feeling down there.

Topic title is false as of now (with potential to become true as the years go by) but even if it wasn't true, your body and brain are getting worse as you age and you're tacking on more responsibilities and risks as you age. It's pretty obvious why people would rather be younger.

Age 40 isn't the problem. The problem is that people are scared they'll make it to 40 and not really have the life they want to live, or the life they envisioned themselves (and most people usually don't). When you've gotten to that age, you're pretty much locked in to the repetitive cycle of life, because we become resistant to change.

It's why so many suicides happen among men age 40 and up.

It's not like your life becomes awful at that point but most men have all the major checklist stuff done by that point

>college
> travel
>start a career
> get married
> get a house
> kids(possibly)

that's all done and behind you by that age so you don't really have much to look forward too except your hobbies and maybe career advancement.

This is true for obese people, but there are some people in their 60s who still seem to do alright.

Good years you say? Fuck. No. Those last 10 years you will be welcoming death. Memory is shit, muscles are gone, eye sigh and hearing are shit. There are all kinds of old people issues.

Tbh, you have 20 good years after 40, and even that takes some luck and healthy life style. Years that come after 60 are more than likely going to be shit.

I'll tell you this from what i've seen, if you have bad genes and you really dont take care of urself, no exercise, u smoke everyday, u eat like shit, ur life will probably go downhill in its late 50s to 60s. COPD, heart failure, heart attacks etc will all start to kick in or ramp up. If you really take care of urself, I've seen 70 year olds functioning like they are 50. IMO keeping the weight off is one of the most important things, you're much less risk for orthopedic stuff which is what seems to debilitate people. Like back pain, knee pain etc where they cant do what they once enjoyed, then they get sedentary and get a bunch of other problems.

I've seen 30 year olds who are already a mess physically and can't even walk up steep inclines without almost passing out. It's really important to take care of your body and exercise regularly.

At just over forty, most men have already lived half of their lives. Most men go from 40-mid 80s, few after that, and if you get to that point, you have health problems by then anyway. It's not like they're they model picture of health and then die in an instant, generally speaking.

30? I've honestly seen thin, seemingly healthy looking 20 year olds struggle to pedal a bike up a mild incline for a distance. Cigarettes will cut your cardio endurance down to like nothing.

Cool, is that the US variant? It's similar then to literally, which can now mean figuratively. Lol, that one's my favorite.

Theres a difference between just being deconditioned and needing to exercise and having a medical condition actually prevent you from accomplishing that in the first place. One of those can be reversed.

But yea people I see alot of people in their 20s that are polar opposites. You have those people that are gung ho about fitness and staying healthy, then you have those people who are always eating out "foodies" always drinking beer, etc, they dont always look fat but they are fat and it gets hidden under their clothes.

They:

A. Eat nothing but horrible food
B. Don't exercise
C. Chain smoke cigarettes and drink a lot

That's a good recipe for the type of person that can't walk for more than a block without breathing through their mouth.
