Does TC really think Baseball is popular outside its dedicated fans?

After seeing his circumstantial evidence I did my own.

I asked 33 co-workers aged 20-55.

31 knew who Ed was, of that 31, 25 knew he was mainstream and could list at least one song.

The other 6 knew he was pop but didn't know the title of any song.

Noah got 6 responses. 2 knew he was Mets pitcher, 2 knew he was a pitcher, 2 knew he played baseball but didn't know the position or the team.

So TC, please tell me how a corporation in LA, your "second biggest demograph" had worse results than what you showed?

Also, for you to poll 33 people in 15 minutes, means you would've had to get everything off without a hitch, 100% clean. That's literally less than 30 seconds per person. And I'm willing to bet there were a few who hesitated. It's not like you caught these people ready to answer or anything. You'd have to walk down an aisle, ask two questions, get the answers, write them down, and move on to the next person all in 30 seconds. That leaves like three seconds for each answer per person when you factor in the logistics of your "poll" (which you and I both know you didn't do).

EDIT: And it's actually less than 15 minutes. I posted my poll at 2:14, you posted at 2:28.

you're such an idiot lol

many athletes go fairly unknown unless they're popular, as someone who doesn't watch sports i can name a few (lebron james, michael jordon, wayne gretzky) that are fairly well known

compare that to an international pop star (and if you think "no one" knows about ed sheeran, a majority of people listen to the radio as they drive, and after or before songs most hosts say "coming up, (song) by (artist)" or "and that was (song) by (artist)

secondly, the cameos are entirely different, though i applaud the got writers for making cameos in relation to what these people have done (ed singing as a bard, this guy throwing a spear) ed sheeran is put in a spotlight compared to this cameo, and he's fairly recognizable and definitely more well known than a baseball player.

compare the two: a singer who's shows his entire face, or a baseball player wearing a helmet throwing a spear for literally 1 second if not less

Because it's more realistic than getting 33 email replies in less than 15 minutes in the middle of the workday for something totally unrelated to work, in addition to the possibility that people had free google access right there.

It sure is cute the straws to which one will grasp to try and make news.

For starters, Syndergaard has been in the league for two years. Secondly, athletes are almost universally less followed than musicians and entertainers. Michael Jordan has 3.5m and he's the greatest basketball player of all time.

The difference lies in the fact that athletes are not entertainers. They are competitors. Musicians are strictly there for your entertainment. As such, in order to get more people to care about them, they take to social media to make their voice heard (and then, in Sheeran's case, "quitting" social media in a publicity stunt to gain more followers).

It's cute that you are so obsessed about proving your non-existent point that you are willing assume that a 19+ million discrepancy can be casually ignored because of some bullshit reason you made up in your head.

Beyond that, it would take me 2 minutes to contact 50 people at my workplace through IM. Alternatively it would take me less then 10 seconds to put this question in any general chat that a office/corporation might have.

Also this for good measure:

Maybe we should lay off the tc, I would feel terrible if he had an aneurysm trying to comprehend this type of stuff which is clearly more then he is capable of.

Don't worry guys, I marked him as "special" so I make sure not to cause him undue stress in the future.

Again, cataloging 50+ responses without duplicates, with accuracy, without distraction, and assuming they all reply in ~15 minutes is an unbelievable long-shot. Unless of course you're working some dead-end cubicle job where people literally have nothing better to do but participate in some totally counter-productive group chat.

Right, because it's totally fair to compare two of the most famous AND PROMINENT athletes of the generation to a guy who's been in the league for two years. Totally relevant.

I did it face to face. I just didn't walk up some aisle asking people one by one.

Amazing how you can write two totally contradictory statements and post it without realizing how dumb you sound.

It sure is cute when people go straight to insults because they want to feel morally superior over an internet chat forum

I understand that seems an insurmountable task to one such as you, but i assure you it can be done if one had the "facilities" to do so. BTW his was only 33 people, not 50+ that would take roughly 33% less time.

I could catalog that in my head without dropping a sweat.

Even jotting it down on a notebook took like 5 seconds top for each one..

Dude acts like I'm transcribing a meeting or something.

Did TC finally run away? Well that is probably best for him, we wouldn't want him to get hurt trying to understand certain concepts.

Stay safe TC, maybe wear a helmet?
