Has been captivating thus far. Just finished season 1. Am beginning season 2. No spoilers. But how would you guys rate this show? Through the first season I see great potential. I believe it may even rival Breaking Bad once it gets in its later seasons but only time will tell. Btw Khaleesi is hot af but if I say that she will kill me.

No, you are so late to the party, just no.

I realize this but it was done purposely.

I know that the GoT hype has been long overdue but I purposely did not watch it. And now I am.

It was the best until the part the creators hoped to come to. After that it started to decline and ever since they don't have original material to follow it's turned into shallow one dimensional predictive snore-fest with added fan-service and characters making choices that don't make sense only to push their narrative.

I understand but now I have an increasing interest to read the books. Would you guys recommend now or should I wait until I catch up?

Personally, I think finishing season 2 would be good. Then read the books. Imo certain events I think are better experienced in it's original form first.

keep watching the show. i do not want to spoil anything but there's a VERY big scene that will change the show completely coming up, so at least watch till the end of season 3.

personally i think it's a great show but the quality has gone downhill a little bit in the later seasons. too much of an emphasis on magic IMO (I am much more interested in the political intrigue instead of magic and big fight scenes) and as someone else said, as the show really starts to focus in on the main characters they become a bit one dimensional and predictable.

definitely still one of the best shows on TV though

So watch until season 3 and then read the books?

because watching that red head hoe give birth into a shadow that kills the brother was rather read in my opinions.

I disagree, some stories, arcs, scenes, ideas, etc are best done through a visual means.

tbh id prob just watch the entire run of the show and then read the books. idk what you'd get out of having half watched a show and then start reading the books. you'll have put tons of hours into GoT at this point and absorbed only a small portion of the story.

it's not like the quality of the show really falls off or anything, it's still a top notch show through and through.

People on the internet like to bitch about everything.

The show is great even into season 7.

I've started following rough plot points, since I find some of the overall story interesting. I just refuse to actually watch it because it has far too many things that I cannot handle. Still, some questions I'm really quite curious to hear the answers to when they show up.
