I mean, starting something unprovoked could definitely cause a bad reaction with China, it's a factor. They wouldn't go to war with us probably, but it's not like that part should be ignored.

There's no financial or tactical incentive to instigating war with NK. They have no resources and no political gain would come from fighting them. All you'd have is an unprecedented humanitarian crisis on your hands.

Plus, there are hundreds of thousands of Americans in South Korea, you'd be putting a lot of American lives at immediate risk.

PLUS, they would not be an easy opponent whatsoever.

Unless we can perform a simultaneous strike on every single artillery cannon aimed at South Korea, a first strike is a terrible idea as those things are going off and hitting every major populated area within range at the first sign of incursion.

I mean yeah, that goes for almost any military intervention. Purely humanitarian efforts usually fall flat because the involved governments have very little incentive to pour money into a massive operation.

But it's not just resources. Strategic power control within a region and diplomatic relations are also a huge factor. This would be the reason for the US to go to war with North Korea. The reason we don't is, put simply, China and nukes.

North Korea is an established state.
The terrorist cells arent.

The strike first worked because the targets are nonstate entities. Since nothing was done to prevent and stop the growth of terrorist cells, the US LED forces to combat against terrorism. All you see in news was US fighting. You did hear a small bit about the other countries supporting their efforts. But all we hear and know is the US strikes and not the collab of them and others. I believe a more accurate headline is US led strikes with allied support. But the biggest force get all the credit when its not favored in the world.

If we strike first against North Korea, its a recognized act of war and others will get involved. NK will act in self defense and preservation of their country. Theyll rally for support being a smaller nation.

The damage feared from another (or continuation) Korean War will further destabilize the region. Itll put Russia and China in factors of the war.

Geologically, they will have the advantage cause their full forces are there. The US installations there will be elminated first. Then therell be no US presence in the region. The war will escalate towards US allies in the Pacific since theyll be the primary staging area.

No point in a first strike when your target is very unlikely to actually start some shit on their own and the friendly/innocent casualties will be extremely high.

They're basically holding SK hostage since they'll be able to dish out a lot of damage and casualties before US/coalition forces would be able to stop them. Contrary to popular belief, Kim probably isn't that dumb and would rather keep his dictatorship in tact.

Any kind of strike could end up killing hundreds of thousands/millions of people. That's why the previous 4 presidents have opted to go the diplomatic route. All 4 failed to slow the progress of North Korea.

It's even more dangerous now that they have nukes. NK has missiles pointed at Seoul right now. 28,500 US troops are stationed in South Korea. All of them are at risk. If we take any action, Seoul could end up being a pile of rubble.

The only way to stop this now is to identify all their nuclear sites and destroy it. Then finally, take out Kim. Much easier said than done.
