... are you still a dirty thief?

Let's say you wanted to watch this past Sunday's Game of Thrones, whether just out of eagerness, or maybe to avoid potential spoilers from the leak, or whatever.

If you have an HBO subscription, but you download the leaked episode, are you still stealing?

Kind of the same argument as 'backup copies' of things you own imho. If I purchased it legitimately then I'm going to play the backup whenever possible.

If they weren't paying for the content (like the majority of users) then it would be theft, agreed.
In this scenario, you're just getting what you paid for a little earlier-you didn't leak it or distribute it and you didn't stop paying for it. Explain to me where the harm is?

I dont think there isnt harm, but you didnt pay to acquire it that way, and the company didnt offer it that way.

I personally would get the leak even if i didnt have hbo just because i dont care, but it is stealing.

Yes and no, isn't it? I thought based on the viewings on Netflix, they in turn pay out some X amount to the owners of the show/movie? Or do they simply pay a fix rate to the owners of the shows/movies regardless of the viewings of said shows/movies?
