He had this bit where he was like "Why is this still a thing?" and it became obvious fast that Oliver and his writers were actively seeking for things to put in the program and not making the program because they didn't understand why they were still a thing. And as a result, his segment on it would just be moronic. Like he asked why pageants were still a thing (because people want to do them?) or why Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition was a thing when porn exists (as if people don't enjoy deeding to that stuff or that Kate Upton would appear in porn? Then I feel like he intentionally does possibly ethically bankrupt things, where he only says things to further a political goal and not that the things he says are right, but that the outcome of his propaganda will be right. Where he actively lied about Jill Stein and also tried to shame voters from Gary Johnson because his intention was to steer votes towards Hillary. Then the whole refugee crisis thing where he went on and on about how there is no potential security risks and we all know John Oliver doesn't believe that.... Or how he tried to convince American Audiences Brexit was the worst thing ever, just because he said so... like that whole piece was just non-nonsensical. Then the other issue I have is that he's not even American and he lectures Americans how they are idiots when it comes to American politics. It would be pretty absurd if I moved to Australia for example, and tried to claim that they are all morons and I know more about their country and their politics than the people who live there, but I suppose this could be applied to any foreign political commentator and then you might say, well why don't I apply that to Trevor Noah which I can explain, but it's not that convincing.
