32 y/o Patricio Manuel from Los Angels, California underwent gender reassignment surgery becoming the FIRST BOXER in US history to fight first as a female and now as a MAN!!

His mother, Loretta Butler said she knew from an early age that her daughters, Patricia and Megan were different and said "Every Christmas, i would be buying toys at Toys R' US and everybody would say "You have 2 boys at home, huh?"..and none of her daughters played with dolls as both wore boy clothes

She said she couldn't believe she didn't see the clues as both daughters are gay as Pat has always been male but was not assigned properly at birth.

Patricio said his grandmother was the one who pushed him into boxing in high school and spent 3 years with Roberto Luna, who trained THREE OLYMPIANS.

His mother supported him 100% in transitioning and she did whatever she could to help make it happen as it was a natural transition for Patricio.

He started hormone treatment in September 2013 and in less than 5 months, he gained 15lbs, grew facial hair and his voice dropped a couple of octaves.

26 months after his final fight as a woman, he flew to Utah for surgery which involved the removal of breasts and shaping a male-contoured chest in a 6000 surgery that his grandma paid for.

It wasn't easy as he was DENIED jobs, kicked out of gyms and even cut ties with his former trainer, Roberto Luna and is now training with Vic Valenzuela who trained a number of fighters.

Last year the International Olympic Committee changed its policies to allow female to male transgender athletes to compete without restriction

Not every man wanted to fight him after after dropping out when learning he was transgender...

Pat said "The toughest part of transitioning has been having pre-set matches inexplicably fall out. Vic and i have gone to shows and watched opponents leave without explanation moments after a fight was made official"

Vic said "Honestly, he's just one of the guys and i think he has a chance to be one of the greats".

Pat's only fought ONE match in the last year but he makes his professional debut later this year as many his age would consider retirement as he finally feels like himself and feels comfortable fighting in his own skin.
