I don't understand this infantile fascination with mind-numbingly repetitive shit.

Cookie Clickers is probably the best example. I don't know whether people really still play that. I assume not, since apps never retain popularity for very long. But when that became big, it seemed like everybody was doing it. I'd see multiple people sitting there in any given class tapping away at their phones. WHY?! What person over the age of five could find this entertaining?! Are you seriously enthralled with a game that rewards you with images of raining cookies while you just mindlessly poke at it?! You probably even run a risk of damaging your screen by playing it.

And then fidget spinners! I can see why a five year old would enjoy it. But for some reason it's a craze amongst people older than that. You'd think these people had never seen a fan before. Yes, the blades whir. Whoop-de-doo. I've seen people try to keep spinning for as long as they can, or try all these different tricks with them. WHO CARES?! That is not remotely impressive. If you want to impress me by doing tricks with objects, juggle chainsaws or something similar that requires LEGITIMATE skill.

There are better ways to spend your time! And don't get the wrong idea; I'm not one of those people who thinks people always need to be "productive". Time enjoyed having wasted is not time wasted. But how do people ENJOY wasting their time with this shit?! It's not like there aren't better options! There are countless apps that do more to provide entertainment than goddamned Cookie Clickers! There are toys that offer way more to do with them than these blasted Fidget Spinners!

Simple ppl enjoy simple things. Nobody will remember them in a few years when the next cheap, mindless gadget becomes the time-sink du jour.

I actually leave Cookie Clicker open all the time when my home computer is on. Early on you start getting cookies automatically, so all you have to do is buy upgrades and, if you want to, watch for the bonus cookies to appear on the screen so you can click them.

Also, Cookie Clicker got an update just the other day.
