Current Events > I had a really scary episode of sleep paralysis last night

I was sleeping on my side, facing my husband. I felt like I was in between being awake and dreaming. Suddenly I felt a slight weight pressing down by my leg. I assumed it was one of my cats, however they were both locked out of the bedroom.

Suddenly the weight started pressing down harder and harder, to the point where it felt like the mattress was pressed down very hard on the edge of the bed and my body was being tilted. It felt exactly like someone standing over me, on the edge of the bed.

When I realized what was happening, I tried to move to call out to my husband, when I felt a hand on my head, pressing down and keeping me immobile. I started convulsing. It was absolutely terrifying. Finally I broke free. I woke up panicked.

I go to wake up my husband who sleeps like a log. He doesn't wake up but he kind of moves his arm so I can curl up with him.

He then proceeds to sleep grope me the entire night. Like wtf. When he woke up I told him what happened and joked that I was looking for protection not to be molested.

His response? "Protection comes at a price"

Sleep paralysis is the best. It's like ASMR turned up to 11.

My favorite instance of sleep paralysis was when my face was smothered in the pillow. Damn that was fun, would repeat. /s

I don't get this often, but it happens sometimes

A couple of times I wake up but I just can't move, like I can't even open my eyes and I can't even breathe. It lasts like 5 seconds, but when I can move again I just gasp for air. I hate when it happens, its scary every time.

I haven't had an episode in a very long time.

It felt so real. I could feel a strong presence. Ugh.

Yeah that's what it felt like. The presence I felt was one of just pure evil. I couldn't move, couldn't scream. Really scary.

reading the topic title you just reminded me that I had sleep paralysis too, totally forgot about it, I did not hallucinate this time but I remembr I noticed it and tested it by trying to scream and confirmed it once I felt the usual voice wheeze, I proceeded to then snap myself out of it since I'm super used to it by now. It's kinda cool, like you swim upwards and once you get "surface" you actually wake up, it's not actual water you swim up but the "feeling of it" is so similar that it is the best description I can come up with.
