You do understand exactly what would happen to any women that came forward with evidence, right? Like, do I really need to spell it out?

Ok..guess I will. The minute someone starts posting chat logs or whatever of the interactions, hundreds if not thousands of people will force themselves into that persons life. Immediate doxxing of all that persons private information (including address, family, work, etc) will come out and death threats will quickly follow. That's basically the way it works. So yeah, I understand a bit of trepidation when it comes to posting anything that will effectively ruin another persons life, when that said person is well liked.

If testimony from multiple sources isn't good enough for you to hold off on shitposting for a minute, evidence will likely eventually finds its way out there if these allegations are true. Maybe give it more than a day. This shit isn't always easy for people to come out about.

Some people have leaked out some of the private convo's but they're being bashed for it anyway. They can't win really. This is why social media sucks especially for stuff like this where people love being judge, jury and executioner because they read someone post something.

I think the best course of action in this situation is to forward this stuff to his boss and just leave it to them. Maybe they've done that before but got no response until it blew up on Twitter though.

I'm not sure why we accept that sort of reasoning. If someone posts a garbage topic on CE about science proving homosexuality is wrong or something do we give them a few days to find the evidence?

Polygon doesn't own his Twitter account. But I suspect pursuing that line will just get into a debate over how much your personal behaviour outside of work represents your employer. Would his behaviour suddenly be okay if he used a different Twitter account that was otherwise identical?

What he does in his DMs is his business and, if the DMs I saw are the extent of his behaviour, then it's not a big deal by my estimate. Flirting with girls in your DMs, even mediocre flirting, isn't something someone should be fired for.

Unless he's done something a lot worse, like exchange exposure for sex or blackmail a girl for pictures, they should lay off him. It's ridiculous to vilify him just for hitting on girls in private messages.

If he used another Twitter account that wasn't tied to himself or Polygon he wouldn't have anyone to answer to. But he does. People follow him on Twitter because he's a games journalist who works for Polygon. That's why he has a verified tick. What he does in his DM's is his own business until people complain about his behavior through his DM's publicly or to his boss. Then it's Polygons business.

This is the same reason why you don't hit on women through a linkedin account. That's not what it's for. He's representing both his work and his company on social media. If he did this crap on a Tinder account nobody would care. But he's leveraging his position as a public games journalist to hit on women who message him because he writes for Polygon. This impacts the reputation of both himself as a professional and Polygon as a gaming website. They're not in separate bubbles.

If he was independent there wouldn't be an issue. But he's a representative of Polygon and he answers to them. Their line of work relies on their reputation and the personal connections they have made throughout the industry to get stories.
