Without fast internet you cannot gain knowledge, be aware, get a job easily, communicate with others, and exercise your right to free speech.

I think the government needs to break up the big telecom companies and give us high speed internet for free as is in line with our human rights.

It just needs to be treated like a utility, not some luxury.

Definitely not a human right. However, perfect information leads to more-efficient markets. And in markets where perfect competition doesn't naturally arise (commonly due to economies of scale, among other forces), government-regulated internet service provision can help close the information gap.

Big telecom companies are also given privileged access to public rights-of-way to build their network infrastructure. The public, through government representation, has a right to place certain demands upon these companies so long as their equipment occupies public land.

not everything is a human right

but @Questionmarktarius and @luigi13579

funny how you have no actual logical points to say this is not a human right
just bottom tier mocking

I explained in the op how much high speed internet is needed

do you think getting a job is a premium thing?
what about knowledge?
what about being able to exercise free speech?

these are NOT premium things, these are necessary to health and a sound mental state

Lol, I was just messing.

I can see the logic in it honestly. It's very important in this day and age. Without it, you're at a massive disadvantage. It's a big enabler in terms of social mobility.

Let's say internet somehow becomes a "right", and we run it up to every residence ever, with a cat-5 cable running up out of every floor, with a RJ45 plug on the end. Or, just wifi up every damn street and dirt road everywhere.

Then what?

to make a point here

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-twitter-idUSKBN18X2LR

they are literally saying that blocking someone on twitter violates their first amendment rights

now answer me this

what if you cannot even use twitter because you cannot afford internet?
doesn't THAT violate your first amendment rights!
