the definite article 'the' will be ignored for the purposes of this topic. i.e the rolling stones are eligible to win r, but not t.

if you want to nominate a specific musician rather than the band they play in (i.e chad kroeger instead of nickelback) i won't stop you, though i'd prefer you'd only do this on the merits of their singles career.

TDS isn't a whole album dedicated to suicide. It's just the last 3 tracks. The rest of the album is about the kinds of shit he did that pushed him to that point.

That's not even one of the more depressing Nirvana songs aside from taking the tile title equating it with Kurt's suicide. NIN writes about depression and suicide a lot better than Nirvana ever did and it's a major/recurring theme on multiple albums.They have a lot of depressing song titles when taken in context of the song or album, but yeah they don't really have anything as blatant as I Hate Myself and Want To Die because he's at least slightly more subtle than that... Which is a good thing.
Plus the entire style and production of NIN just conveys so much more the grimy, raw, dirty sound and unclean production only amplify the lyrics and set an entire atmosphere of depression. NIN has songs depressing enough that you could swap out the words with happy lyrics but keep the vocals, tone, instrumentation, production, etc. And it would still feel eerie and depressing just off sound and atmosphere alone.
Nirvana's primary source of depression comes from the lyrics and equating them with Kurt's suicide. He was a great writer and had depressing songs sure, but not to the extent NIN does.

And I don't even care for NIN all that much, I like Nirvana way more.

Yes it is, the central theme of the album is depression and suicide. If you take those other songs out of the context of the album they aren't inherently about suicide, but within the context of the album they are. How is talking about what got you to the point of suicide not "about suicide?"
