That's part of the fun! Just be sure to plan. Not every little thing, of course, but get a general idea of the area where you'll be or want to check out. And do your best to look confident. The more confused and lost you look, the more you stick out as a tourist, and you'll be a larger target for petty theft. Traveling alone on its own increases your independence and confidence, though, and you might even find out new things about yourself or find new things to enjoy. You'll thank yourself once you're back home and look back on pre-travel you and roll your eyes at him.

Maybe visit a place I've been to before but I wasn't alone then? Like Berlin, I was there with David. Maybe go there alone this time. So it wouldn't be super new for me.

If you're going to Berlin I'd recommend staying at the Wombats Hostel there, since you can get your own room, and they have a bar on the top floor where it's really easy to interact with strangers since a lot of people there are like you, alone and just traveling.
