I'm visiting Atlanta sometime in September. I will be able to give a full report on how not great it is after that. haha!
I'm going to visit the Aquarium and the girlfriend wants to go to Korea town (which is apparently a thing) and maybe the Coke museum. We'll see.

What's the best restaurant (iyo) within walking distance of the Hilton/Marriot/Hyatt?

I stay in one of those about twice a year for business.

If you're coming from the airport and have to take a train then you'll have a really bad first impression because between the airport and downtown Atlanta are some of the bad neighborhoods. It's a awful first time experience for visiters.

The Korea Town area however is in Doraville which is a mostly nice area.

There's a lot of restaurants going towards Five Point station and the Georgia State area. Particularly broad Street which is just an endless strip of little restaurants. I've been going to this Dua place there recently.

I was hoping for a particular recommendation. We went to this Irish place once, which was good. Another time we went to the bar in the Marriot, which was just ok.

The Coke museum for sure.
Little Five Points is a weird, albeit, fun little spot that I like going to.
Fern Bank museum.
I haven't been to the zoo in years. I'm talking 10+ years, so that's something I should do myself.
I'd say check out the Buckhead/Lenox area like Phipps Plaza but despite being nice areas, it's full of rich assholes who can't drive to save their lives.

This just my everyday life. Atlanta is home to MARTA. It can be pretty reliable but it's also pretty awful at times whether it be how the train itself is handled or the people on it. Granted, I've never rode another state's transit system, so I'm sure there's much worse. At least it's really simple to get around.

I-20 exploded a few days later.

Rosa's Pizza?
What would you do if I walked into the Starbucks in about 30 minutes or so? <.< (I won't because all I have to drive right now is one of the company cargo vans. Not the S10 I usually drive. :( )

There's two that I frequent downtown, but I was at the one right near the Broad Street restaurant strip. If you came, I probably wouldn't recognize you :/

Balrog0 posted...

If you can, I'd recommend avoiding the train. It's full of crazies and homeless people. Pretty much anywhere on the North line would be ideal and of course, the main attractions downtown are pretty neat too like the aquarium, the Coke factory, Centennial Olympic Park, etc. They're even in the middle of building a new sports dome. I like to go and check that out sometimes, though, I will miss the old dome.

I had so many classes in the Aderhold Learning Center right across the street from that.

And this is true... You wouldn't recognize me. :P

Why? Why is it wrong if I don't want to be surrounded by LGBTQ culture?

I literally don't give a damn who people sleep with but when it literally takes over the culture that's annoying. So tired of LGBTQ acting like people who don't wanna see dudes walking around in drag or acting super flamboyant is bigoted. Just like I don't like to see black people acting like thugs doesn't mean I'm racist, I don't want to go into a bar and it looks like I walked into an episode of Glee.

I condone LGBTQ but I don't promote it. If a person acted normal and didn't act super flamboyant or militant about their sexual proclivities I wouldn't even know by looking at them if they were LGBTQ. I just hate when it's shoved down my throat.

There is a Medieval Times and a Six Flags. Also there is a Ren Fair in the summer but I don't know if it's still there right now. It's a seasonal thing.

There is a huge aquarium.

If you want to go to a boring ass tourist trap you can check out Stone Mountain (maybe get some pics of the confederate carving before it gets blown up).

There are a lot of great places to eat around here. If you're interested, I can point you in a few directions.

I pay a bit over $1000 for a mortgage. When I shopped around, renting apartments is literally more expensive than buying a house.

I live in suburbia though. Apartments might be cheaper if you get them in some shit ass place in atlanta.
