I'd definitely give the last two a chance. The second one maybe considering how long it's been plus it being one time. The first one...maybe if she had less charges, but I think she could have a role in helping former felons if she improved well enough to be a candidate for mayor.

It certainly implies you have disregard for the law, which is the last quality you'd want in someone with legal power.

I wouldn't hold hold that against a guy who was in that mindset in his teenage years. People who get themselves out of those situations and improve themselves certainly possess some good leadership skills imo. Many people tend to trust people who have been in their situation or at least has experience in assisting with them.

Policy direction is vastly more important than past indiscretions.
Detroit is a city that's slowly starting to come back to life. Don't fuck it up with blissful idealism, like the mall guy is suggesting.

Detroit is in financial trouble. If I owned a company large enough to make a real change in Detroit, I would want substantial financial incentive to bring my company there. Why would a trust a felon to keep his promises after I would make a substantial capital investment? I just wouldn't be able to trust him.

Why would you trust a typical politician to keep promises?

And if a guy is a felon because he used drugs or killed someone, that doesn't speak to his honesty. Maybe if he committed fraud you'd have a point.

Im more surprised that a sitting mayor has so many challengers BUT it is Detroit and this has not been a good year or two for crime across most cities.
