meanwhile my 16yr old cat left his spot in the house to come upstairs and yell at me for 3 minutes and threw a bowl of water off the table because it wasn't his regular water bowl like he's a fucking toddler or something. He stopped yelling and went to sleep once I got him his usual bowl.

life is a trip man what can you say really

i once had two cats. one was a 14-year-old and the other was about 4 years old. the 14-year-old acted like a father towards the 4-year-old, constantly grooming her, letting her chase his tail, and making sure he shared his food with her.

the 14-year-old began acting strangely distant, spending most of his time outside. one night, the 4-year-old wouldn't stop meowing and clawing at the door to get out. i didn't let her, but she was stupid persistent about it. she would not rest until she got outside into the cold dark of night.

turned out that night, the 14-year-old passed away. the 4-year-old never meowed at that door to get out ever again. i can't help but wonder if she just wanted to say goodbye and still feel bad about not having let her.

I lost both of my oldest in march, one was 17 and one was 19, had them since they were kittens. There's gonna be a void for a while and i'm sorry you have to go through this. Condolences for the loss of your companion and about your other cat being a dick.

reminds me of last year, see I lost the 10yr olds brother back in November, he died at home and it was an overall peaceful experience. But I still regret not letting him outside for the final time, I'd taken him out the previous night for fresh air and he'd gotten so lively outside, walking around and meowing it was like I got my friend back again since all he did inside was sleep, drink water and use the litter.

the morning before he died he wanted to go outside again, he'd collapsed and stopped walking but again got extremely lively at the idea of going outside but it was a very cold and windy day so I compromised by wrapping him up in a blanket and sitting at the door with him, he wasn't very happy about it.

I just didn't want him to get cold, but he was dying and I knew it so it really didn't matter y'know?. I should have just let him have that moment.

That lasting guilt did lead me to letting the current cat sleep outside for a few hours yesterday, he did the same shit his brother did and I just opened the door for him no questions. even let him out for a few minutes when I found him softly meowing at the door late last night.

Damn, that sucks. Parents had to put down my childhood cat 6 years ago. It was the first time anyone or anything close to me had died. I don't know how much I cried over the past few days.

got back from the vet few hours ago. They were super nice and comforting really great people, they gave us a little box with his pawprint and some fur as well.

I'm extremely sad but thankful he's no longer suffering, he was pretty bad this morning he probably would have died on his own today or tomorrow. I let him lay outside for around 10 minutes, he didn't even seem to enjoy that, he didn't allow me to force feed him but he loved me to give him water and today he just shoved my hand away and wouldn't drink.

RIP Gruntis. Here's a pic of him in better days, he was such a character. I was home by myself and heard all this bag rustling and found him like this. tame compared to some of his usual antics!
