If i touch a computer logged on to the world wide web, will I absorb all that info too?(sorry if this has already been clarified) It hasn't been clarified. Good question. No, you cannot absorb any information from computers. It has to be a book. Hand-written or printed book. I'll say that notebooks, diaries, notepads, sticky notes... anything written on paper, you can obtain its knowledge. If it's in a different language, you won't understand it unless you first learn that language. While I'd probably want the book thing, it would just to help catch up on my reading. Knowledge doesn't always translate to skill. How many of us can have a recipe or repair instructions right in front of us and still screw up the project? Total recall wouldn't help that. Same applies to understanding. I can recite a physics equation but have no idea what I'm talking about. Then of course when I have a problem that isn't in any book I'm borked having gotten too used to just instantly absorbing knowledge to solve a problem and I won't have the best of problem solving skills.
Or worst case scenario I absorb too much and start seeing bullshit patterns and conspiracies everywhere. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Does the book power work with non-physical copies? This has been answered, but no. The text must be physical, not digital. No, the OP doesn't mention what it does to things you are wearing. It doesn't answer what happens to you if you get wet and go into the upper atmosphere. It does not say what happens during landing, but it does mention that crashing would hurt you, and any landing is probably going to be way more crash than land with the average human's coordination skills and awareness.

Most issues that arise from high speeds have been addressed in the OP. In regards to your clothes ripping off, we'll say that they will also not be affected by the high speeds. Anything you're carrying or wearing will not be affected by the high speeds. You will be immune from all negative effects of humidity, moisture, temperature, etc., while flying. When you land you'll have to slow down (which requires no effort) right before you hit the ground. Pretty simple. Impact with object while flying will result in bodily damage. Question: Do you automatically become fluent in a foreign language by touching a dictionary of that language? Fluent in the language? I don't know. It depends on how smart you are, and how well and quickly you could apply that knowledge to your own brain. You would instantly have literal translations of specific words memorized, but you'd still have to apply the grammatical structure of a new language with your own intellect. If that's all contained in a book, then you have it all memorized, but language can be a tricky thing. I'd say that you'd probably still require some practice with the language, even after obtaining all the knowledge regarding that language. It's an interesting question, we'll just say that with your powers of knowledge absorption, you could be fluent in any language after a week of practice. --- glitteringfairy: Just build the damn wall ThyCorndog: and how exactly will that stop the mexican space program from orbital dropping illegal immigrants? ... Book power isn't very clear. Is it mastery of the subject or just raw knowledge? It is the acquisition of knowledge. The mastery of a subject is based on your intellectual potential. If you are smart enough to comprehend the knowledge you obtain, you can apply it. Imagine you took one book and read that book over and over for an entire lifetime. That's how well you would be familiar with the information inside the book. You could apply its contents to the level that you can comprehend it. Each book you touch will be instantly understood by you to the fullest of your intellectual potential. The comprehension of much information would therefore be conditional. I gave the example earlier, that you would not be able to comprehend a Chemistry 104 book if you hadn't already read Chemistry 101-103.
