I'm going to boarding school this school year and all the courses are college-level (and it's on campus of Ball State)
I've taken three years of Spanish at my old high school so technically I don't need any more language credits for my diploma but I'm kinda interested in actually learning one. You can take French, Latin, German, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, or Russian But I also still need another fine art credit and don't have any other space in my schedule so I'd have to do that for summer school or take up a slot in my senior year. --- ... I took two semesters worth of Spanish at my college. I learned way more from that than I did the two years I took in high school.
At my college, it was pretty basic. A lot of the instruction was in English. The professor would ask us simple questions in Spanish everyday to sort of get us used to it. From what I understand, the meaning of "college-level" varies wildly on a school-by-school basis. I've heard of beginner Spanish classes that are taught in a complete immersion format. ... I took a year of German in college after taking 3 years in high school.
I learned more in the first half of the first semester of that college German class than the entire 3 years in high school. This was an intensive class though, met 5 days a week and was a 6 credit course. If I had done a second year of that, tbh I think I'd be comfortable calling myself fluent. --- My main is currently warned for silly reasons. ... Copied to Clipboard!

My brother took like 2 years of japanese and he can speak/hear somewhat basic things, read very basic things, and is almost incapable of writing
I think it depends on how "weird" (for lack of a better word) the language is. Something like french/spanish/german you'll probably learn a lot more --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! THERES SO MUCH PEOPLE READING AND POSTING STUIPED STUFF ... Copied to Clipboard!

One of my roommates was in an entry level Spanish class and it looked significantly more involved than my high school Spanish II. Seemed like they learned a similar level of content, but they had to do way more presentations and shortish papers in Spanish; while in high school it was more workbook assignments and other simple homework.

Typically, it's about the same but more intensive. It's important to note that foreign language classes can vary pretty wildly depending on the program.

It's the same as high school level courses except at the end of the semester you'll have actually learned to speak the language a little bit.

They take the first year or two of middle/high school language and jam it into a semester. Probably doable with Spanish, French, and German, but don't take anything that has a different alphabet unless you really want to study and practice a lot.
