I had an interview a while ago where I was gone for like 8 hours. Part of that was just driving and they took me out to dinner, but it was exhausting. It's insane that your 5 hour one wasn't even the last step though.

On a related note, I got rejected today on an interview from a couple weeks back that I thought I did well on because I'm just an extreme failure at life and nothing ever goes right

It's a company that makes grain elevators of all things. The kind of job I need on my resume but don't hope to do forever. Decent pay and good bennies. I might get to travel too. It should be fine

I didn't really know what a grain elevator is so I looked it up. turns out there's a billion of them here in minneapolis because that was a huge industry in the city back in the day. I walk by them every day

We can all relate. That sucks.

I guess it's mostly my fault for being naive enough to quit the job I had, but it's not like it would be a different story anyway. I just want a job at this point, I'm going to do what I always wanted to avoid and start applying for retail and other non-degree positions

it's a catch 22. you want a new job, but have no time for interviews because you already have a job that you want to leave but it takes up all your time

I don't think naive is really the right word there. I knew it was a risky proposition and that employers generally dislike people who have employment gaps, but I just wanted to try anything different since I wasn't finding a new job while I still had one either. So I'd say the idea was too romantic/optimistic

Could be worse. I think I'm going on year 3 of my employment gap because I don't want to waste my time with more shitty retail or security jobs with no room for growth. I earned a couple of AA degrees in that time span but employers look at them as being worthless so I don't really have anything lined up, and I don't want to go back to school for another two years for a bachelor's because I'm broke, but I might have to.

Yeah, I feel you. I know I was in a job that some people would consider enviable, but I had that same feeling - no room for growth.

Many people I know who work in retail jobs and the like seem to constantly hop jobs, so I imagine that shit must suck. But they seem to find new jobs all the time despite having been fired from jobs, not having a HS diploma, stuff like that. It makes me feel like if I can't even get one of those jobs I must really be doing something wrong, though on the other hand I fear I may be easily dismissed as overqualified. But I haven't applied to anything like that since graduating college, so I guess we'll see what happens if/when it gets to that point

I feel like I can't really relate, having two jobs on the side while I'm studying. Job market sure seems bleak and harsh in America..

At one point I think I had three jobs while I was in school, but it was combined only like 15 hours a week. The job market is okay here, but lots of people don't even earn enough money to not have to live with their parents.

It hurts when I see industries that I want to get into around here claim about a shortage of talent. Maybe I think too highly of my abilities, but I can't help but feel like perhaps their standards are just too unrealistic.


Anyways, the Rockies had a nice win today. They got back at the Indians with a ninth-inning comeback of their own. It also made Carlos Estevez 5-0 with a 7.23 ERA LOL wins are a great stat

I downloaded Pokemon Blue today and there are no color palette options and I can't change the controls. Dammit Nintendo.

Are all 3DS VC games like that? If I get something like Super Mario Land I'd wanna use Y and B

Once I was bored and I emulated blue on my phone in 4x speed and beat it in like 4 hours. Mostly because I've played it so many times and have everything memorized

Did you guys see those new "fun" MLB jerseys the teams are going to wear for a weekend later this month? They're supposed to look like Little League jerseys to liven up the game and make it more interesting, but most of them look pretty horrible to me.

There are four dominant colors, and then there's the Yankees with a boring gray and... whoa, who is that team with that sexy purple? Look at those rebels standing out from the pack.

The actual jersey is terrible, though, why is purple only the sleeves instead of the base color?

I was looking at the Rockies' nicknames and somehow I didn't even realize before that Alexi Amarista wears #2. Too soon... but that being said, it would have been hilarious if he made it say Tulowitzki on the back

I like that Rockies cap and the uniform is pretty cool, except I don't like the font in that color scheme. It's kinda hard to read. It's close to being one of my favorites, though. I don't understand the Giants color scheme. The cap is black and orange but the jersey is gray and orange. It doesn't match at all.

I like the uniforms, especially some of those bright blue hats. The Cards hat looks just like their normal hat which is boring.

Thank fucking Jesus Vikings preseason is back. It will be nice to finally be able to get to watch a real sport again

I've seen ads for that. It's that bad?

I mean it's probably exactly as mindless and boring as like Beat Shazam or whatever but it just looks incredibly cheap and the contestants were horribly irritating. Pretty much any game show outside of Jeopardy is pretty lame to me though. I like The Price is Right too but mostly for nostalgic purposes.

My sister is a pod fiend and she does the most fucked up thing in the world. She listens to podcasts at 1.5x speed. I got into her car once while she was doing that and it sounded like alvin and the chipmunks meets satan. made me want to die. She does it so she can "listen to more podcasts"

I think my mom and sister have made podcasts have a negative first impression for me. I've listened to a few of the ones they like on car trips and they're just garbage. I know there are good ones that I would be interested in but I just never started

What's funny is ever since I got into podcasts I just stopped listening to music entirely. I'm all about hearing people talk now baby

I got my first podcast t shirt this week. It's for Doughboys which is arguably not even my favorite podcast but it has the best t shirts

I started listening to podcasts earlier this year when I was playing Stardew Valley, but only wrestling podcasts. I don't even know why I started listening to them, because I don't really watch wrestling anymore, but listening to what Stone Cold has been up to or Edge and Christian's experience at Comic Con is interesting to me.

Some QB named Kyle Sloter had a perfect rating for the Broncos. Semen and Lynch better watch out

I'm not sure, but it's kinda funny to me. i've posted it a few times on facebook and the responses just make me laugh.

On father's day, I posted it on this GB Packers "Happy Father's Day to Packer fans" posts and my god...the replies were so mad. I've used the internet a lot in my life and those were malicious
