I read this in the news this morning regarding the latest failed attempt to repeal it:

It would have resulted in 16 million people losing their health insurance by 2026, with insurance premiums increasing by 20%, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

Republicans obviously must see some purpose, contrary to that evidence, to getting rid of it. What is it?

They're trying to save face I think.

They said they'd fix it, they couldn't. So now they have to just try and destroy it to seem like they are doing something when really they are doing nothing.

One thing everyone needs to understand about USA is that these "estimates" and "projections" are always WAY off. It's probably worse than you think.

The bottom line though, is our health care system is completely fucked, and a lot of people are going to die because our superior, intelligent, and almighty leaders can't come together ONCE in their lives to get anything done.

Can't completely blame them though, because Americans will continue to vote these mobsters into office without batting an eye.

Republicans don't actually want whats best for Americans. They just want to beat the democrats. And they don't want Obama being credited for anything positive even though they can't do better.

Okay but even if we go with the "Republicans only care about rich white men" narrative, they still must have some sort of official PR spin on why they want to do this?

"Current plan sucks, so we will remove it and put in place a much better plan!"
But what is the new pan?
"We will deal with that once we get rid of the crappy current plan. It will be a good plan, the best plan!"

Trump wants the health market to implode.
The senate doesn't actually want that to happen, the latest attempt was just so the senate and house could meet and discuss things. It failed because some senators were worried about the possibility that the house could just decide to go with the senate's horrible bill.

A lot of these Senators are from states so deeply conservative that their only concern is being primaried, i.e. being upset by another candidate from the Republican party. Their bread and butter constituents seem to believe that all the bad things that would result from a reform like this could never happen to them, and if it did it's because Obamacare destroyed the health care market. About the only dangerous territory as far as reform goes is gutting Medicare, because that directly impacts elderly voters.
