Current Events > Help me decide between getting a PS4 or a Xbox One.

I've been considering getting a new console lately, don't have any of the modern systems and am usually a gen behind, but I've been wanting to get into some more modern games and just want a new console in general.

I'm currently leaning towards the Xbox One for a couple of reasons.
1. I already have a Ps2 and PS3. I've never owned an Xbox Console though, and if I've been informed correctly, it's backwards compatible with a lot of 360 games and is about to get Original Xbox games, so I'll have 3 consoles worth of games to play and catch up on, while with the PS4 it'd be mostly just brand new games and remasters.

2. My older brothers and a lot of my friends have Xbox's, so I should theoretically have people to play with.

There's a couple things that still make me consider the PS4 though.
A. The Xbox seems to be really weak on RPGs, and I've been on a bit of an RPG kick lately and have been wanting to get into more of them. I've especially been into Final Fantasy games lately, but while I could get them on the PS4, I already have 3-10 on Steam, and the Xbox One has FF15 and I think FF13 already, so PS4 would only offer me the first 2 FF's, and the FF12 remaster.

B. There's 3 games in particular that I'm really looking forward too that are either PS4 only, or I'm not sure if they're gonna be on the Xbox or not. The Shadow of the Colossus Remaster, KH3, and the FF7 Remake. I think I heard KH3 is going to be on the Xbox, but I have no clue about FF7.

C. Relatively minor thing, but I honestly prefer the Playstation controllers over Xbox controllers, they feel more comfortable IMO.

There's not a ton of exclusives on either I'm dying to play honestly, at least not in terms of the current gen. Last Guardian seems interesting enough on the PS4, and I've always wanted to try the Halo games.

Help me out CE, convince me one way or the other, and tell me some cool exclusive games on each to help sell me.

I think you'd be better suited to getting a PS4 tbqh, it sounds like you want more games on it.

Typically, my advice for consoles is get whatever has more games you want on it and whichever system your friends play on, but it sounds like you don't really play with your friends since they all have Xbox already and you don't.

If backwards compatibility is your main concern for getting an Xbox, you'd be better off just buying a cheap 360 tbqh.

And for the record, I mostly play my Xbox One more than my PS4 and I'm saying this.

I mostly haven't bothered to get a new system in the past for money reasons and I've been pretty happy just sticking to my older systems, and having people to play with would be nice.

I just don't know if I want to buy the PS4 over like, 3 or 4 games. Like, both systems seem about equal to me, the only edge for each being those like, 3 games for the PS4 and all of the backwards compatible games for the One. Like, it pretty much equals out IMO.

Hence why I'm torn.

but seriously if you play online a lot, get an Xbox since that's what your friends have. If you primarily play single player it sounds like the PS4 will be better for you.

I legit think theyre both great. Leaning towards ps4 because theres no hope for a lot of more japanese games on xbone. But the amount of time ive spent on 360 makes me wonder.

See, right now I only play single player, but that's also partly because I have always been a gen behind. I kinda wanna try playing more multiplayer and such.

I own both and I have a slight preference to Xbox. I like the interface better, I don't like the PS4 interface. My Xbox also downloads things way faster. And if you have friends on Xbox that's a huge plus as well.

buy game on either xbox/PC and get the other's version on top of it(digital only i think).

also, games are only on windows 10 store for obvious reasons.

If you want a ton of games for little money. Xbox is your best bet.

Xbox GamePass has over 100 games for a subscription and you can play all of them as long as your are a member. Games include Halo, Payday 2, Mad Max, and the AAA blockbuster GOTY Farming Simulator.

Xbox also has the much better EA Access which I have. 5$ a month or 30 a year you get a ton of EA games for free as long as you are subscribed. The entire Mass Effect Trilogy, sports games, Peggle 2, Dragon Age, Need for Speed, etc.

Plus you get about 3-4 games for free every month with games with gold and you can keep them forever.

I personally hate RPGs like KH and FF so I am not missing anything with Playstation. But if that really is the most important thing then you may want to consider a playstation. Xbox has no shortage of games for value tho.

KH3 is confirmed on both, and FF7 Remake I think is just a timed exclusive worst case

SotC remake will be PS4 exclusive

But get Xbox if that's what your friends have. I'd play with you depending on the games.

ps4 has some good exclusives
xbone has like 2 exclusives
95% of games are on both systems

Eh, I feel xbox has the stronger exclusives. Much more variety. Sea of Thieves is so fun from what I have played.

Xbox One's backwards compatibility and Games With Gold beat the shit out of PS4's PSNow and PS+ services.

In terms of console exclusives, PS4 definitely has the edge; especially with JRPGs. Xbox, however, has better mod support with WRPGs, has a few games that are otherwise PC exclusive, and has more upcoming MMORPGs (Black Desert, Sea of Thieves).

Xbox is also much more media friendly, if that's a factor. PS4 won't let you play video files from a USB, let alone CDs.

Im torn. Im so backlogged on games though. I honestly cant decide yet. Hoping a good sale will push me towards one.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Whichever console you choose, you're really going to want a 1TB hard drive or an external one. Many games take up upwards of 60 GB and you're required to install them even if you're playing from the disc.

Oh yeah absolutely do not get anything less than 1TB

Doesn't help that the PS4 (and probably the Xbox) reserves almost 100 GB for system use, so you effectively only have a 400 GB drive.
