This is my router. Is 2010 old for a router? Is that the problem?

Are you seriously playing online with a wireless connection?

Yea that router is no good for wifi gaming. You want to get a dual band router and then connect your Switch to the 5 ghz wifi network

Personally I recommend Tp-Link routers for the price vs. performance

Even the archer C7 works great (I have the step above it, the c1900 and have had no problems with it)

The Switch doesn't even come with ethernet capability out of the box. Wireless is fine.

Thanks my man for the advice. I'll look into it.

Have you been playing for the past few days or just today? I heard a few people had some issues today.

I've had problems since launch. Online gaming on my PS4 and Xbone is hit and miss usually.

Other aspects of the internet works well. Streaming in 1080p works fine, web pages load quickly.

If your all your gaming experience is generally hit or miss I would consider the common denominator

Probably an upload issue with your old modem or something

The modem is even more ancient. It's at least ten years old but may be older. The problem is replacing rhe modem is out of the quesrion. But yeah I can see how it'll bottleneck everything.

Is it so wrong to play online if you have a wired connection to a wireless media bridge?

No. They make nothing but garbage tier products. every thing I ever purchased from them dies in a few months or has other issues. The last TP-Link router I bought was such a piece of shit I had to replace it in 3 months and gave it away as a handmedown to my parents who don't actually use the internet for anything other than e-mail and youtube.
