I just started going to the gym for the first time and I had literally no idea what the hell I was doing. Just did random shit there until I was really tired. Trying to build muscle.

I don't mind it but a lot of people I ask tend to straight up ignore my request or say nah.

At that point, I just stopped asking.

You should make a plan if you want to build muscle more efficiently :) You can do a full body workout a few times a week or make so called "splits" but both are best performed with a plan so you know that you properly hit all the relevant muscles. You can do many different variations if you split up the muscle groups on different days and I tend to change it around a bit after a couple months if I notice one part of my body need an extra boost.

My current split is this:

* Chest followed by shoulders and triceps.

* Biceps, back and abs (I do this split twice a week cuz my biceps are a weakspot compared to other parts of my body like my chest and legs).

* Shoulders (also a personal weakspot), triceps and legs.

If I go a 5th time then I throw in chest/legs. Cardio is mainly when I bike to work, to the gym, walking to the grocery store and such.

The gym I go to offer a free PT the first time even for a free trial run. The PT show you exercises and machines and help you make a program :)

I'm just starting out. Once I get back from my doctor's appointment and I'm sure I'm okay to go back, I'm just going to go back to cardio. Turn my six miles on an incline bike into ten.

I figure then I'll start branching out onto the machines. Rowing and pulldown seem simple enough.

That and the fact that we have differing goals.
Yours seems to be "get big" while mine is just "slim down and tone up." I was the other kind of big for a long time and I'm kinda tired of it.
