I just met one of my grandmothers for the first time.

"You know your grandfather called me right before he got sick and told me 'I don't want to die alone' and I said "Well it's no business of mine how you die.'"

We're not related by blood but I now wish we were. Spent the night getting hammered at a bar together

I was close with my brother till he got married, not close any more. I guess I'm closest with my mom, but she kind of treats me as a possession rather than a person, so it's not ideal either.

I'm close with my Dad(I live with him), Brother, Sister, Nephews and Niece but not the rest of my family.

I'm close with my wife, parents, and my closely-related relatives on my mom's side.

I like my extended family but we aren't close as we live in different countries and we haven't a lot of contact.

Not really. I don't hate them or anything, but I've never been very open with my parents or anything. I appreciate and love them, but we stopped being close when I was around 8 :b

My siblings are all at least a decade older than I am so I didn't really "grow up" with them. They were always out doing their own thing and moved out by the time I started getting my own personality.

Niblings, cousins, aunts, and other relatives I'm even less close to. On a good year I them maybe three times. Typically I'd see them once every other year or so. When I see them now they're basically strangers.

Depends on how you define close. I'm certainly not on bad terms with any of my family. Far from it even. But I don't know if I'd say I'm close with any of them. I talk to my parents and sisters a fair amount, but more often than not, it's just small talk. We all like each other, but we really don't share much about our lives with each other, with the exception of my youngest sister.

I guess you could say I'm close to my youngest sister, sort of. She shares stuff about her life and going ons of it with me, but I don't really share anything with her.

No. I don't feel I can talk to my parents about anything that really concerns me. When they die, I expect I won't be upset except for the fact that I'll have to do more things on my own; of course, it's easy to say that now.
