Do you think it's time for pot smokers to be punished?

The Trump Administration is preparing to crack on on MARIJUANA users despite it being LEGAL in some states as Attorney General Jeff Sessions task force said that the drug is tied to VIOLENT CRIME!!

The Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety is expected to recommend tougher sentences for those caught growing, selling and smoking the plant due out July 27th

Sessions has been an outspoken opponent to marijuana use and said it's a gateway to illegal drugs and crime. During his first policy speech, he said drugs are driving much of the crime and that the administration is ready to enforce laws against recreational marijuana on a federal level as Trump promised to ELIMINATE DRUGS in America!!

He said "States, they can pass the laws they choose. I would just say, it does remain a violation of federal law to distribute marijuana throughout any place in the United States, whether a state legalizes it or not"

On the campaign trail however, Trump argued that marijuana legalization should be left to the states where it is already legal in 8 states plus Washington DC

The president however seemed to be swayed by the idea that marijuana is not a safe drug as he avoided a government shutdown by signing a 1 trillion spending bill safeguarding medical marijuana that bars the Dept of Justice from spending money that could interfere with the use, distribution and possession of medical marijuana. However, in signing that agreement, he said he RESERVED the right to IGNORE the amendment and could pursue legal action against states and territories that legalize it..

Sessions repeatedly said that "We grown ups in charge in Washington to say marijuana is not the kind of thing that ought to be legalized, it ought not to be minimized, that it's in fact a very real danger".

Colorado AG Cynthia Coffman said she would like Sessions to witness the state's flourishing recreational pot industry before imposing a crackdown as they have learned where to put in place a good framework for marijuana regulations

Do you think it's time for Pot Smokers to be punished? let's see what people think

Technically it's not legal anywhere because of the supremacy clause. It's just that I think only Federal agents can legally police it in states where it has been nominally legalized.

Ok-

Here are the REAL FACTS in only a few short sentences. First off- I support full legalization of all drugs before I say this so I'm just saying facts are facts.

Weed might be legal according to state law (in whatever format)- that means the local law enforcement won't go after you.

However federal law still makes it illegal. For no valid reason. But still it is. And fact is that federal enforcement agencies still can break in and arrest and convict anyone in any state under federal law.

So until we abandon this hypocrisy- the whole "how do you feel about it?" Shove it up your ass. That's basically what's going g on and its wrong and making weed illegal is basically supporting the drug cartels. You want to chop off the nuts of drug dealers- legalize it they can't sell illegally for profit as low as someone can sell legally. It's that simple.

Well, he's correct in the sense that federal law supersedes state, as is the case with gay marriage.

Absolutely one of the worst moves he could make. There really needs to be a push to federally legalize all drugs.

Yeah, but that federal law is unconstitutional.

Everyone's afraid to do it, but the first person from a major political political party to run for president and advocate legalization, will win. Whether it's masked with medicinal use or not, many people just like having an altered state of consciousness from time to time (see alcohol) . Just do it already

That's not wrong but so is smoking, drinking, gambling. Pretty much every bad habit is tied to violent crime in some way.

Once again I ask...

-->Someone's caught using marijuana, a fairly harmless drug (certainly less harmful than totally legal alcohol and nicotine)...
- OMG, you horrible criminal! Lock him up! Lock him up!

-->Someone's caught using opioids, even black market chemically manipulated varieties such as fentanyl, which is so strong that it can send innocent bystanders or emergency responders into a fatal overdose merely by brushing against some of the powder...
- This man is a poor addict, he is a victim! How dare you judge this man! He doesn't deserve jail, he needs help!

WTF, America?
