it's a crazy hobo that hang in the alley nearby.

so basically i was alone in the house, i heard something clacking on the roof, thought it was a cat. then i heard it again, and something rustling on the room above. i thought it was my housemaid coming home from shopping (here in indonesia middle-upper class hire housemaids from lower class and sometimes they live in our house. her room is upstairs)

i hear rustling and call my housemaid's name, but none answered and the rustling like someone gone trough cabinets and drawers can be heard. so i pulled a knife, my staff and proceeded to clim halfway the stairs.

i wanted to confront the intruder alone, but i remembered the basic of real life CQC: when you don't know what you're up against, just run away, so while the intruder ignored me, i locked all the exit and all the rooms in our house, creating this one-exit where there is only one way out. the second floor window that has shoddy lock or even forgot to be locked. after creating the semi-trap i called out the neighbors and some helped called the police. we shone light on the window opening and saw the dude jumping off the window and run and dance (like literally dancing like a crazy hobo) across the roof, on the next roof and down into the overgrown alley.

we caught him in the end, they probably gonna call social service or whatever.

the mob of neighboring people recovered what he stole. these are what he took:
-bunch of instant noodle
-my cocoa powder jar
-our old emergency phone
-bunch of clothes and underwear
-my housemaid's hair dryer
and several random clutters. money even those that are in plain sight are fortunately safe and sound as well as other valuables. thankfully it was really just some crazy hobo and not real criminals.

definitely gonna tighten the security around. i'll ask my dad to install barbed wire around the roof's openings etc.

He came in from upstairs, an open window. So while he is up ransacking i quickly closed all other windows, downstairs, went outside and locked the mian door from outside.

So he entered through the second story window? And I don't think you understand how locking a door from the outside works when the person is inside.

It create a blockade and only 1 way possible way out. The way where i knew he came and and the way i expected him to came out. With that only way out, i knew exactly where to look and his options are stay inside and be ambushed by mobs fhat gathered, or go out way.

It worked well. Me and my neigbor basically watched the window, saw him out and and followed his escape route. We caught him well cornered

oh yeah, there is basically a police station 2 streets away from my house, so it was faster for me and my neighbors to split and had one group watch and the other call the police directly.

it was an amusing experience to be honest.

Dude was legit crazy, i kinda pity him tbh. Hope he is in a better place, a safe place or containment where he can live safely and not hurting other by intention or accident. but considering how the mentally ill treated here dunno how it will turn out.

At best he got proper treatment or something, but according few neigbors he hung alot in the alleyway near the sewage. I dunno what caused him be so bold. Desperation? Starvation? He did stole alot of food.

There is also the matter of how did he know tjat my house would be mostly empty. Did he stalk my house?

I dont think he has any malicious intent, but still unsettling if he planned all this.

Eh whatever, he shouldnt be hurting anyone else now and life goes on

Some locks require a key to unlock, both inside and outside. My house is like this. Can't open the door from the inside without the key to unlock it.
